Yes. I already feel safer now that the border is closed and criminals are being removed. His economic policies will take time to erase the damage of Biden, but cutting wasteful spending, eliminating the bloated government bureaucracy, reducing regulations and extending his tax cuts will be good for the country.

What do you mean by “the country”? Tax cuts and reducing regulations will be good for businesses and the 1%, but terrible for the 99%, aka everybody else, who will see their taxes go up to pay for it.

Companies do want regulations nationally so they can adhere to one set of rules rather than 50 individual ones. But the bigger point is, what specific regulations are curbing business? Seems like corporations are generally doing pretty darned well in the US.

They want to be able to poison our air, water, food and medicine without government interference.

Look at Australia. Very receptive to immigrants - 31% population born overseas. Far from the troubles of the US and Europe (but with its own anxiety over China). Skills shortages. Universities accept lot of international students. More than 100,000 Americans already live in Australia. On the negative side, high COL and tough housing market.

I have a trans daughter who is happy right now in her first year of college. She’s an adult so was not affected by the health care EO (that is temporarily blocked). We had also changed all of her documents, including her passport just in case Trump won again. So, for us, I think it would depend on her. I’ve already encouraged her to consider graduate school programs outside of the US. I really can’t fathom the idea of not living in the US for the rest of my life. But I would consider leaving with the hope that things would change and get better. I’m not so sure, though.

Everyone is talking about Hitler, but what’s happening is a lot more like Hungary. It’s not this all at once takeover. It’s drips and drabs. The press is already being affected because companies are afraid to upset Trump.

I am not an alarmist. I have never thought about living overseas before. But I have skills and my spidey sense is sounding alarms so I am getting everything ready to leave if necessary.

My European family live in the U.S. and Australia. Not sure how you think Australia is open to immigrants. The illegals are shipped off to an island with well-documented abuse and the legal are not treated very well. We are white so fared much better but Australia is well-known for being racist.
