I think an old man would appreciate the marine protecting him, as well. A female MMA fighter would be able to protect herself, but alas, the vast majority of us females are physically too weak to fight off a man, not that I don't want to be able to. I'm all of 5' if that, but inside, I'm a 6' xena princess warrior, but that doesn't translate to actual physical ability, sadly. |
He didn't seem to active have him in a chokehold for 15 minutes. According to the phone video, he had him in a chokehold for some time and when he stopped kicking (passed out), let go. Holding him until he stopped flailing doesn't seem disproportionate. Up until then, the unhoused person was dangerous. |
Women contacted Ted Bundy too. |
Yes it was approx 15 min. If someone had you in a choke hold for just being loud you would also fight for your life. Waiting until he is dead is too long. |
The Marine picked a good one to chokehold, someone who was behaving frighteningly and attacking other passengers and had a history of attacking people. Funny how he just happened to pick someone with a lengthy history of violence. Wonder how that could have happened? |
Frankly I think the Marine should be receiving support, not facing arrest. Here we have everyday heroes stepping in to subdue dangerous perpetrators and now he’s facing murder chargers? It’s extremely unfortunate the man died, but it was accidental. |
The fact that there is such a debate over the Marine’s actions demonstrates why he won’t be indicted. You will not be able to get a group of people to unanimously agree to indict or convict him. At some point there will be complete video of the homeless guy’s behavior that comes out and it will show him acting aggressive and threatening and not merely saying he was hungry and thirsty and that will be it. |
His housing situation did not cause his mental illness. More likely the other way around, so call him the mentally ill person, not the homeless person. |
You know, this pisses me off. This is why we need our Government to actively monitor, house, treat, and/or arrest psychotic individuals. There are SO MANY of them, and without law enforcement or social services intervening, people have no choice but to protect themselves. This could have all been avoided. |
You don't need a unanimous vote to indict, just 12 of 23 in New York. |
Unhoused person. What an effing joke. |
The bleeding hearts who are defending this crazy person roaming the subways don't even realize that the nonviolent homeless people are probably relieved they won't have to deal with him anymore. |
This was murder which was noted by the corner and he should be charged. |
It’s called profiling and it’s illegal |
Has the coroner gotten the toxicology results back yet? |
