Yeah, I do know that I wouldn’t have stabbed anyone and gutted them like a fish. That much I know. I do know that. Especially as I don’t carry a knife. |
You know nothing. That much is true. |
But we don't refuse to prosecute killers simply because I don't know what I would have done in their shoes. |
| I’ve tubed there many times, albeit many years ago when I was younger. It doesn’t make sense to me that the suspect was away from his companions “looking for a lost cell phone.” Why would he care so much about his friend’s phone to go hunting for it? And how would you know where to look? That part seems impossible. If the phone had fallen out moments before, then his fellow tubers would still be there. But apparently they were elsewhere. Makes no sense. |
It's not very encouraging to realize that if i were to feel threatened by a large group of drunk men and women who shove and taunt me that I'm expected to think clearly, not be afraid, and do them no harm. |
He thought clearly enough to walk away from them the first time, and then he came back for more. He couldn’t have been that afraid or intimidated, yeah? The prosecution will have a field day with that fact. |
It's not very encouraging to me to think that you might be able to provoke a confrontation, refuse to leave, and then start stabbing people to death without consequence. |
Don't misunderstand...I abhor what he did, don't own a gun, and can't imagine hurting any person or animal. I also think the large group of drunk tubers should have left the weird old guy alone. Taunting him, accusing him of things of which they had no proof, and pushing him into the water could frighten anyone. |
At what point did that occur? He was bothering everyone around him. They asked him to leave them alone. He’s no victim. |
Don’t misunderstand: I thought they were acting like arseholes. But let’s start with he approached them first. Then let’s continue with if he had simply asked them if they had the phone/saw the phone and they said no, he could have walked away rather than get close to them and snorkel around them. Asking about a phone is not creepy: not accepting “we don’t have it and we have not seen it” as an answer and getting close enough to touch their tubes and snorkel around them *IS* creepy, and aggressive, especially when some of the tubers were young women. Eyewitnesses who were not even in the fist tubing party say that the first person to get physically violent was this guy, who slapped a woman who was trying to stick up for the first group. This guy then got away from them, AND CAME BACK FOR MORE CONFRONTATION, which clearly shows he couldn’t have felt in danger or attacked, because he chose to re-engage with them. He didn’t just land a few stabs to defend himself: he gutted them like fish, with their internal organs visible and intestines hanging out of bodies. And then he fled the scene. This guy is a murderer and he’s going to be convicted and sentenced as such. All facts and evidence—including the aggressive and rude behavior of the young people—will be taken into consideration. But at the end of the day, he’s going to jail, hopefully for a very long time. |
From the Daily Beast article:
If Miu knowingly and deliberately lied to police about the knife, that is a big problem for him. The jury will not believe any part of his story once this has been established. I predict he will plead guilty rather than go to trial. |
This right here. His story doesn’t even remotely add up. Very inconsistent. |
If he tried to leave after being relentlessly mentally and physically tired out and exhausted by this unfortunate encounter with a pack of aggressive drunk teenage males, How far do you think a fat 52 year old would make it before they chased him and caught up with him? Nicolae’s adrenaline kicked in, Fight or flight. Perhaps he feared the flight would have tired him too much to later fight again if needed. The teens should not get away with what they did, they need to be held accountable for being the aggressors in this situation. |
I’m sure any jury would see their suffering in the hospital, fighting for their lives as being “held accountable” enough and time served, so now we can move on to trying and sentencing the murderer/attempted murderer. |

anyone else get the vibe that the college kids actually stole the phone and that’s why they made such a massive deal over him continuing to search their area for it? And he knew they had it, hence why he didn’t leave?
Makes the most sense to me IMO. Because otherwise why were the college kids so fixated on him looking for his phone and screaming names at him, and why else was he so fixated on continuing to look right in that area despite the big group harassing him |
