SF is sooooooooo far down on the list of nice places to live. No one wants to live that overpriced cesspool. Who wants to pay exorbitant amounts of money for a crappy small apartment while having to dodge human dookie and used hypodermic needles spreading hepatitis everywhere? There are many, many other cities in the world where people envy more to live than SF. SF is a trash heap open sewer.

There is an obvious contradiction in your argument: If nobody wants to live in SF, why are property values so high?

+1000

+1 with a hearty LOL. A single junky-filled, poop covered block in SF has more culture, education, and history than entire towns in flyover country. A single house might even cost more than the entire town.

Walnut Creek just announced that they will use federal COVID relief money to fund more police officers due to the ongoing increased risk to public safety from retail crime.

Because of NIMBYs and geography, idiot. Not really hard to understand.

You conveniently neglected to mention that it is also due to the seemingly endless supply of people clamoring to spend $750,000 on a 1 bedroom apartment or $2 million on a SFH within city limits.

Like shocked pikachu face how did I not know that ending policing in a violent neighborhood would result in a 30% murder increase? Or who knew taking shoplifting less than $1000 would only result in a misdemeanor would somehow spur a shoplifting crimewave?

This has me concerned because I am liberal. Not a progressive a moderate liberal.

What happens when republicans win and the pendulum swings the other way and there is a massive crack down on crime that disproportionately hits people…basically it’s hard to find a good policing middle ground, but this lax crap needs to stop.

Honest question though. Why is it considered a massive Republican crackdown when it is literally enforcing the law and protecting property rights? This is an opportunity to stop playing partisan games and identify bad policy and do something about it.

+1

It’s disgusting that caring about our laws and not wanting a business robbed or looted or people to be assaulted is apparently a “republican” idea now.

You might not like “stop and frisk”, and I think there’s a valid discussion to be had about that. But we’d better start cracking down hard on criminals or next year there’s gonna be a red wave like we’ve never seen before.

+1 Yep.

All of you who don't mind walking in poop and stepping on used needles to access that history and culture can keep living there and LOL to your hearts content.

Apparently, there is a seemingly endless supply of very stupid people.

Very stupid people who can buy a $2M house with all cash.

I thought Republicans deified rich people. When did that change? When said rich people buy property in California, I suppose.

There are.million dollar homes in cities like Sao Paolo and Rio. Even Mexico City. The overwhelming portion of those cities, however, are variable crap holes filled with murder, crime, drugs and human trafficking.. you can't even walk around at night in Sao Paolo. Real estate prices don't mean anything. Even a crap hole like SF can have high real estate prices even though they're pretty much a 10th century fedual system with open sewer pits and needles everywhere. Big whoop about real estate prices. SF is still a miserable trash hole.

Of course you thought that. That explains so much.

Completely agree. It's really too bad - I spent some time in SF in the early 90s and loved it. No way would I revisit now - especially with my family. And that goes for Seattle and Portland too. Utter cesspools.
