Daily Mail is not a tabloid. What they publish is factual. The problem with DM is that it's sensational journalism, you will not find a thought piece there. But you will definitely get clued in on lots of news. |
Wouldn’t they be inherently equal, but unfortunate? |

Stopping and frisking random people is unconstitutional, even if you think its effective. Police are still free to stop and frisk people who they have reasonably articulable suspicion are engaged in criminal activity and carrying a weapon. I don't care about unequal outcomes nearly as much as I care about the constitution.
I also don't really see the connection between that policy and these crimes. A person on their way to a ransack a CVS *might* be carrying a crowbar or something, but most of them are probably just guys walking down the sidewalk without anything particularly incriminating in their pockets. What would you stop them for? What would you find frisking them that made a difference? |
Agree. It is a staple for me. I go there to see the Brits report on stories the dishonest American mainstream media won’t touch and for facts the MSM won’t report. To round it out, I read CNN, NBC and Fox, Real Clear Politics and Politico and none of them are as good at true just the facts journalism as The Mail. You want biased opinion or thought pieces, go to MSNBC, CNN and Fox. You want a true read of the state of the USA, you have to rely on the Brits for honesty. |
I don’t know, but look at NY crime before and aster stop and frisk was eliminated. It led to a large decrease in crime. Also, I hate how third rail it’s become in the last few years to talk about crime statistics. As if it’s better to just sweep uncomfortable topics under the rug and to instead implement limp wristed, but “equitable” justice programs that actually cause more crime. Violence interrupters? Restorative justice? These do nothing to protect people in violent communities. It’s all just lipstick on a pig. We need to be real and just admit we need policing. We should legalize prostitution and decriminalize drugs though. Just fking tax them and take them away from criminal enterprise. |

Does anyone have specific, credible citations for the talk of "ending policing" - like specific language from Mayor, Chief of Police or Council?

| SF is an utter hellhole. Have you been there recently? It is dangerous and scary. Go walk around the city early in the morning on a Sat. or Sun. There will be TONS of homeless junkies meandering around absolutely high out of their minds. It literally looks like the Walking Dead zombie apocalypse. Even their parks are trashed with losers....just go through what was once a beautiful park.....completely overrun with homeless and people parking their crappy campers and winnebegos indefinitely because they use it as a base to live in while working in the city in order to save money. Trash is everywhere. So many streets smell like human feces and urine, because you can literally see people crapping in the streets in the middle of the day like it is a 3rd world hell hole. You have to constantly dodge hyperdermic needles on top of the feces bombs...what a great way to spread hepatitis C. Homeless and junkies have more rights than taxpaying citizens in SF. Car break-ins are a massive problem. The city's only solution is to keep legalizing open drug use, tie the hands of the police behind their backs from being able to arrest anyone, and continues to openly embrace homeless who keep coming and coming. And guess what? You get to pay upwards of 13% state income tax for the privilege of living in a 3rd world hell hole with crappy schools and out of control crime and moral decay. CA and SF are the most overrated places on the planet. |
Here’s a solution. Don’t live there. MYOB. I assure you the the people of San Francisco could care less about you or whatever suburban he!!h0!e you live in. See how easy that is? |
Sometime outsiders are required to travel there by their company for work, idiot. |
And, it'd be nice if the rest of the country didn't just round up their own homeless and their own junkies and mentally ill people and give them one-way bus tickets "hey do ya wanna go live the good life in sunny California?" |
Uhhh, may we see a credible citation informing us of this? |
Don't California's generous social policies attract homeless (along with the weather) |
It's embarrassing how the right wing elite comes down on authoritarian of "THE 👏 POLICE 👏 ARE 👏 NOT 👏 TO 👏 BE 👏 QUESTIONED" which stops needed reform and turns into sabotage. Yes, there is a vocal minority on the left that says a lot of miguided things like "defund the police" which the right then weaponizes in completely un-nuanced ways, suggesting the left does not want any police. That is false. Most on the left still want police protection. However, we think police need to be retrained for de-escalation rather than stupidity like putting your knee on the neck of a non-violent suspect or violently wrestling frail elderly grandmas with dementia to the ground. We think the police need a LOT more oversight and accountability. We think dealing with the mentally ill should be done by others with expertise. We think there cannot be any lying about body cameras "malfunctioning" or police threatening and intimidating bystanders who film their abuses. But the right says THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE POLICE AND THEY ARE NOT TO BE QUESTIONED and the police dishonestly say "well we can't do our jobs at all if we aren't allowed to do what we 'need' to do (break senile harmless grandma's shoulder throwing her to the ground)" and then use that to ease up on policing causing crime spikes. There is so much g-d dishonesty on all sides. Why can't we just fix the damn problem? |
Oh there's been a ton of reporting on it over the years. Here, for example, where a Nevada mental hospital sent 1500 mental patients to live on California streets. https://www.mintpressnews.com/500-homeless-mental-patients-were-given-bus-pass-california-by-nevada-government-program/210607/ I have friends who do volunteer work with the homeless in San Francisco. They've told me that tons of them came from Georgia, Alabama and elsewhere. They get shipped all the way across the country by the hundreds. And San Francisco actually did at one point start rounding them up and sending them back to where they came from but were stopped by a lawsuit. Not to mention, some of the cities exporting their homeless also force the homeless to sign a form saying they cannot ever receive homeless benefits if they return. |
NP. Here are some more sources that are reporting this. Unreal that the WaPo, NYT, etc. are not. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/20-hit-la-nordstrom-store-in-smash-and-grab-break-in/ar-AAR2OhO?ocid=BingNewsSearch https://www.nationalreview.com/news/mob-targets-bay-area-stores-in-third-consecutive-day-of-smash-and-grab-looting/ https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/video/6163033-flash-mob-smash-and-grab-robberies-dampen-holiday-spirit-in-san-francisco/ |
