Agreed! Surprised girls who should have made first team were not. Some girls selected for honors weren’t even big contributors on their team.

How do they get selected? Coaches nominate? Political? Cause it can’t be stat based.

Coaches nominate their own players I believe and the higher you ended up in the standings the more you get. Which is a joke. These are individual awards and should not be tied to the team success it should be coaches vote for the top 12 overall regardless of standings for 1st team and so on for 2nd team and HM.

Sorry your daughter wasn't selected nor selected on the team where YOU thought she should be. Have more class and don't throw shade on the girls or process. Congrats to all those who were selected. Well deserved!

Says the dad who knows his DD did not earn what she got but rather rode her teammates coat tails…

Your ire and dismay should be directed at your dd's coach not anyone on this board. The coaches nominate, advocate and politic for their players. I am very sorry that you aren't going to be able to post on your daughter's SportsRecruits page that she didn't make whatever all league team you hoped.

My daughter made First Team, and she’s heading off to play in college next year — so let’s be clear.

If you can’t see how flawed this process is, I can’t help you — or maybe you just don’t want to listen, because your daughter happens to benefit from having stronger teammates. She may have gotten more recognition than she actually earned.

What ends up happening is that girls who truly deserve individual awards get passed over simply because their team didn’t perform as well.

These are individual awards. Team success should have nothing to do with who receives them.

The teams with the most success tend to have more successful individuals

+1

The best teams usually and almost always have the best players. Don't understand the PP's logic.

For WCAC, the best players are on GC had have been since COVID. And for the most part it isn't even close. Only real close conference game for them was a game without their head coach on senior night. If the championship had been closer there may have been more arguments, but it wasn't. Other than the 2 that did make 1st team, it was the right call. It's about the best players in the conference not giving each team a few slots. Every coach gets to pick their own 3 HM players. 1st and 2nd team are voted on.

Since we have seen GC, SJC, and BI post but PVI hasn't posted, it looks highly likely that their Florida commit got POTY. You could have argued Ryken goalie for 1st team since GC split time often with their goalies (all 3 played in title game) but realistically it is just not close.

In the ISL I think that Potomac and SR deserved more votes than SSSA and Visi

I've watched them play in person four times and reviewed plenty of film. I don’t see how anyone can justify naming a goalie as the best in the conference when they’re not even facing — let alone saving — a significant number of shots.

None of the goalies maintained even a 50% save percentage during these key games and routinely faced fewer than 10 shots per game in total. The GC goalies might be talented, but it’s hard to tell — they don’t face enough shots, and when they do, they’re not stopping a meaningful portion. Based on these facts, they shouldn’t even be in the conversation.

I wish I had the same amount of time on my hands.
