Do you seriously think New York, California, Florida is any better?

Yes, because every society that's ever existed has always prized feminine beauty over masculine beauty. And personally, I enjoy being able to "look pretty" as a woman. Maybe the beauty and fashion board isn't the right place for you?

I expect my husband to work out, look after his skin and keep his body hair trimmed. I expect him to dress nicely. I look after myself and expect him to as well. He also likes to look good next to me and for me to be proud of how he looks.

+1. We both make the effort not to let ourselves go.

go to the gym. you'll see lots of desperate 40 something men trying to beef up to look younger.

For me it's all about the makeup and hair. I still have a banging body after 2 children. I did not work out like crazy after pregnancy. Some of us are just lucky.

Get rich. Then you can pay for great dermatologist and skin care services, eat really well, get lots of rest and take vacations, get clothes that look amazing on you etc.

I look like crap because I’ve gained weight from the meds I take to control stress, I work long hours bc we’re broke, have a long commute, spend weekends doing chores, can’t afford to take restful vacations or buy nice clothes etc.

This is so true. The other most aging thing is weight gain. Doesn't matter how you keep the weight off - pills, smoking, etc. - you'll still look better and younger without the extra weight.

Smoking??

Please, it's one of the main things you can do to AGE yourself. It causes pre-mature aging of the skin, folks. That means wrinkles!

I can’t believe a 32-year-old is describing herself as well-preserved. Tongue in cheek, I hope! My 90 year old grandma used that phrase to describe herself.

"are" nuts, at least get it right if you are going to insult the participants of this conversation. Good luck with your life.

Pretty much. It's much easier not to "let yourself go" if you have enough time and money to go to a gym, get a great haircut, or buy nice clothes and have them tailored, etc...

The rest of us making 100k and under in the DC metro are just getting by.

I am trying to moisturize and wear sunscreen though, so there is that.

Regular manicures.

Regular professional haircuts and color.

Decide early if you'll cover your grays.

Shoes are so aging and can ruin your look. Again, update.

In general, you shouldn't be wearing the same wardrobe for decades. Go ahead and say that a tee shirt and jeans are classics and therefore can't ever be out of style. Yes they can. Color and fit and styling of jeans are ever evolving.

I am 51 and spend weekends on the sidelines of DC games. Ugh. Parents who are likely fashionable and current and dress professionally for work throw on entire outfits from the 90s. Moms in boot cut, bedazzled low rise jeans with baby tees, dads in enormous light blue relaxed fit Levi's with a tucked in golf shirt.

+1. There is a lot of emphasis on weight, but I know women who are not thin (not obese either) and they look fabulous and out together and thin fit women who if I didn’t know better would think they are homeless. Nice stylish age appropriate haircut, well fitting stylish well selected and well accessorized clothes, beautiful manicure. The package as a whole should fit.

Actually, “is” modifies “one” in that sentence. “Every single one of you is nuts” is grammatically correct. Good luck with YOUR life!
