Thanks for posting link. Are most of those SSSA girls new to the school? |
Glad to see that girls who are on Stars black team have a decent chance of making Capital. -mom to a Stars black player |
They don't list the teams these players are coming from, so how do you know? |
Girls lacrosse world in DC area is pretty small. We know these girls. There are 10 from the black (B) team which is great. And th |
No, they arent new to SSSAS. This is one of the strongest classes (girls lax-wise) to be at SSSAS in a very long time. Most of them have been at the school for years. There was no need to recruit. The SSSAS 2022 class is far weaker lax-wise. |
Depends on what point in time you're talking. I think Landon had like 16 DI commits just between the 2017/2018s, so schools have more than a dozen at times. Prep had like 6 for 2017/18, but also had several 2019s before the rule change I think. So they are probably a little under a dozen right now, but the numbers can flip year-to-year. Gonzaga is also probably shy of a dozen right now, but it seems like they were probably over that a couple years ago. As to other schools, SSSAS usually has a couple each year. Bullis has several per year the last couple of years and more in the pipeline, especially 2019s. After that among local schools, it's hard to say who has the most. Maybe Churchill or Robinson or Episcopal? But it goes way down after Landon/Prep/Bullis/Gonzaga/SSSAS in terms of quantity of DI players unless I'm forgetting someone. Obviously, there are also several Baltimore schools that produce many players each year -- Boys Latin, McDonogh, Calvert Hall, etc., but just talking local DC and suburbs schools. |
LOL. First of all, you have no idea how much tuition assistance a family gets (not is it any of your business). But because Bullis brings in many African-American, OF COURSE they are on scholarship, right? And the same thing happens at Prep and other schools, especially with football and basketball. Kids get recruited over at every IAC and WCAC school. Get over yourself. |
| Please stop save the girls lacrosse talk for the carpool line and not this thread. |
Is it true that there has been some movement both into and off the DC Express's heralded 2021 team after the recent tryouts? |
| Curious about lack of Capital players from BI....over the past several years BI has been the strongest HS team in the area and Capital has always been the strongest club team. So if BI is not placing girls on Capital that does not bode well for the school's continued dominance... |
| Just out of curiosity how many of the SSSAS and BI lax girls are from Alexandria vs. other areas? Seems crazy that the two best schools are so close. |
Yes, some kids tried out from other clubs. So some kids on that 2021 team have been moved to the B team. Big change for those kids compared to what they saw last year. |
I know that 3D players are now on that team. Probably some of the best from 3D. Did any Madlax or Crabs or VLC or Next Level kids make it? |
The competition argument is at the center of the whole issue. While I can understand the frustration, the reality is the we're talking about some of the best schools that play lacrosse in the country. The coaches are paid to win and build that legacy. Part of that calculus is putting the best 10 players on the field you can play. No coach in their right mind would say no to the #1 attackman in his class to join his team. Sorry, not going to happen at Bullis or Landon or Prep, etc. etc. Same will be said up the college ranks and into the pros. That's why players get traded, transfer, etc. Not pretty, but that is reality. |
You really need to take the race thing out of this discussion and look at the facts. Your school just admitted a kid who was asked to leave his current school (a league rival for his senior season). The kid looked at a few other schools and ALL OF THEM SAID NO THANKS. Once again Bullis demonstrates its win at all costs mentality! |
