+2 Prettier from the front, but still lovely. |
I don't know about that but I was struck by the skin problems. I've known many Indians, not one with this issue, is I was puzzled. I guess the awful pollution makes sense for those living in major Indian cities. |
I say bullish!t on the pollution because look at East Asia |
| I think it’s the spicy curry |
BS. The Indian obsession with fair skin is proof that Western beauty standards are very much followed. The hook nose is masculine and unappealing but will be tolerated if it comes with light skin. |
| These tall Indian women look like trans |
Ancient India did not discriminate on the basis of skin color, I don't think. So yet another toxic Imperialism gift to "colonies!" |
Fair skin is different from facial features. Fair skin obsession is a by product of 1000 years of invasions by invaders that valued fair skin. They weren’t treating people differently based on noses, 1000 years. Let that sink in. It’s going to take a lot of time to reverse that generational mindset. But it is happening. It’s only been a free country for 70 years and already the younger generations are making big strides towards trying to change the mindset. We’ve all got baggage to overcome. But noses of all shapes and sizes are beautiful in India. |
| Indians are obsessed with being fair skin. The fairer skin the wealthier uou are |
Yes and from one of my favorite poets “ My issue with what they consider beautiful is their concept of beauty centers around excluding people. I find hair beautiful, when a woman wears it like a garden on her skin that is the definition of beauty, big hooked noses pointing upward to the sky like they’re rising to the occasion skin the color of earth my ancestors planted crops on to feed a lineage of women with thighs thick as tree trunks eyes like almonds deeply hooded with conviction the rivers of Punjab flow through my bloodstream so don’t tell me my women aren’t as beautiful as the ones in your country. Our backs Tell stories No books Have the spine to carry.” -Rupi Kaur |
This is so true. Whenever I travel to India (for work), I am always amazed at how all the TV personalities, stars, etc. are all very fair-skinned - almost Caucasian - whereas most of the country is darker. It reminds me of the prejudice that exists in my own race. |
This is a lot of assumption for someone you don’t know. You just make it up as you go along... |
The younger generations like the ones portrayed in this show? Who openly say they prefer someone fair and not too dark. Lol |
She's presenting her "best self" for suitors and a viewing audience and her best self is...horrible. Do we need to know her? Like the other people including Sima who "know her" and think she is a POS? Never thought I would see someone go to bat for a Aparna character. |
| Funny thing is she has two married friends that still support her piggishness |
