I think Aparna's friends are like this astrologer..her "friends" are probably people for whom she is a client or vice-versa.
My next-door neighbor has a similar personality and she goes to dinner with her clients, goes on trips with her clients, etc. Nobody would be her friend as a stand alone relationship, there has to be a good or service also as part of that relationship. So if Aparna stopped paying her astrologer friend for readings, I bet that friendship would fizzle.
