Would you allow your 16 year old daughter to wear one of those almost thong swimsuits?

You are so dim. It doesn’t matter what kind of perfect world you wish to live in where some stranger or some friend of your daughter isn’t fantasizing about your daughter’s a** when she’s letting the whole thing hang out. The fact is we live in a world where people judge and people leer and people think sexual things. I cannot fathom why your little feminist stance is more important to you than protecting your daughter and teaching her that some things are just not age appropriate. You are not as smart as you think you are, and you’re also not a good parent. You are trying to create a dream world for your daughter and not accepting reality.

And I get what some of you are saying about bikinis in general but as much as you want to argue, they are not all created equal. When I was a teenager if I wanted to wear a bikini, it had to be a sportier type with full coverage and a top that was not two tiny triangles. I respect my parents for having these rules and teaching me what is age appropriate. I have no hang ups about my body because of their rules. You are kidding yourself, also, if you think the reason your daughter wants a bikini is because it’s easier to go to the bathroom. Give me a break! I have a bridge to sell you!

You sound like a complete mess. I feel sorry for your daughters and your sons.

Nobody should be sexualizing a child. Do you go to HS volleyball tournaments for sexual gratification. Geez!

You have serious issues. Yes most normal people do not sexualize children. It’s sad you teach your sons it’s completely normal to go around sexualizing complete strangers and teach them to blame girls based on what they wear.

You sure are projecting a lot.

It’s a lot easier for you to believe that than to admit you just posed that it’s the fault of a minor child when somebody has pedophile thoughts.

I don't think you know what a pedophile is. A pedophile is an individual (16 years or older) whose sole or primary romantic or sexual attraction is to pre-pubescent children. If someone finds a post puberty body arousing or sexual, then by definition they are not a pedophile. Also to be a pedophile you have to be at least 5 years older than the pre-pubescent child so a teen boy thinking a teen girls in a bathing suit is hot is not a pedophile.

I absolutely know. I have been involved in prosecuting sexually molestation cases for 20 years. I know way more about the subject Than ever cared to.

Unless OP and everybody posting about 49 yo men ogling girls are teen boys your argument is ridiculous. You keep backing away since your post are so ridiculous.

You post is that men can’t control themselves and women control their thoughts and reactions. That is insane.

Men are 100% capable of controlling their thoughts and reactions and actions.

It is not biology. You were socialized to think the way you think and it’s pathetic.

You’re right. Men aren’t visual creatures. Wearing certain clothing, like a g string at a strip club, doesn’t at all send a signal about what you’re offering to the world. It also doesn’t matter how you dress at work or anywhere for that matter. Society values a male body just as much as a woman’s naked body.

I am also a prosecutor and you are not very bright or convincing for an attorney. People do not control their thoughts. They control how they react to their thoughts. The thoughts about your daughter’s a** will always happen organically. Most guys will be like, okay, look away, it ain’t right to think about it. Many don’t.

It’s actually mind boggling that a sex crimes prosecutor would encourage a teenager to walk around with her butt on display for all to see.

The comments make sense. There are a lot of dumb people out there.

This. Letting your daughter wear a suit like this means that MORE men are thinking nasty thoughts about her. Many of them will think it’s justified since she is showing it off anyway. She must want it, right? We can choose to live in a fantasy world where clothing doesn’t matter or we can live in reality. Just like you wear a suit to an interview, your 16 year old should cover her ass up at the pool.

2. The girls who are allowed to wear these kinds of suits never make it far in life. They are the “fast” girls and we know how most of those turned out.

3. Allowing your daughter to wear a suit like this is teaching to disrespect herself. It’s saying “your body doesn’t have any value and you can show it to anyone.” She will of course get positive feedback from wearing such a suit and she will like it. Just like she will receive positive feedback when she gives a BJ at a fraternity band party in college. It’s just a BJ...who cares? It’s just her ass hanging out of her suit...who cares?

4. Men are visual creatures. Ignoring this is ignoring reality.

I think this would be a very healthy development. Of course, for everyone, not just young girls. There's no faster way to desexualize the body than to make nudity banal and commonplace.

If her opinion was different, I do not know what I could do. I mean, today, we could have world war III, but next year she will be on her own. If she wants to wear that at college, across the drill field in winter, I cannot stop her. Her ass might freeze and fall off, but....

So she does not wear a bikini?

Just because your daughter might choose to wear a thong in college doesn't seem like a good reason to let her wear one at 16. Your daughter might also choose to drink and smoke weed in college as well. Is that reason to let her start doing it at 16? Some activities just aren't age appropriate, and I would say choosing to flaunt your ass at 16 is one of them.

Every bathing suit has ass showing.

You let your college student drink and smoke pot?

Are posters just being intentionally dense here? Are you really going to claim that you don't know the difference between a bit of butt cheek hanging out of the bottom of a swim suit versus the ENTIRE ASS showing because the backside of the suit consists of nothing more than a piece of fabric going up the crack?

You know this thread is not about things it’s about Brazilian cut where the bottom cuts across the butt. It literally shows 1/2 inch more butt.

OP here. No these girls' swimsuits showed their ENTIRE butt cheeks. I thought I made that pretty clear in several of my posts.

You need to post a picture because the swimsuits that most girls are wearing and most moms are freaking out about are not thongs. They are not even allowed in most pools in Maryland.

So post a picture and let us see.

This is what I see a lot and moms are clutching their pearls.

Someone posted a picture of a suit similar to this up thread and I said no, this covers way more than what these girls were wearing. Its essentially a thong. Only difference is there is a bit more fabric above the butt crack instead of just a string and you can see a bit of fabric coming out of the butt crack. I called it an "almost thong" because I think of traditional thongs as nothing but string.

Wow, OP. You examined these swim bottoms really, really closely. I might suggest that *you* are the perv.

Urgh, I'm frustrated on Op's behalf. People have asked Op pointed questions about the actual swimsuit the girls were wearing. Op is doing her best to describe the suits by comparing them to the ones seen in these pictures.

But the point is that she couldn't answer so specifically unless she had scrutinized these teen girls' bottoms very closely. So she is enacting the behavior over which she is wringing her hands. OP, leave these girls, their swimsuits, and their butts alone! You have no control over them and it's not your business. They don't give two hoots about what you think.

Oh good grief. Trust me, I can describe the Speedo the dude I saw at the beach was wearing, unfortunately. Some things can not be unseen. As, I'm sure, Op can relate.

Can you also describe in detail what a 16yo boy wears when he is in a swim competition and should he expect 40 yo women to gawk at him for wearing such a revealing suit?

Oh, you mean those swim competition THONGS that they wear? My kids did swim team and they wore regulation suits, so did the girls on the team. There was nothing trashy or obscene about them.

There was a girl disqualified from a high school swim meet race because her team issued suit rode up during the course of the race that she won. A judge ruled that was a violation and made the disqualification. It was, of course, reveresed after the event got some local and then national press attention.

Really stupid on the part of the Judge.

That judge was stupid for disqualifying her for what amounted to an unintentional wardrobe malfunction of a regulation suit. Had the girl actually been wearing a thong instead of her regulation suit that would have been a different story entirely.

This may be the dumbest post I've ever read on DCUM. This is some backward-ass thinking.

I live in the South in a beach town and all the women wear suits like this. From 16 year olds to 50 year olds. No one's value is diminished because of it. Quite the opposite; we all walk around comfortable in our bodies because there isn't this weird taboo about showing your butt. It's very liberating actually to not think you have to hide a part of your body for whatever reason.

Yes. We should all emulate behavior from the dumbest and most uneducated region of our country. Oh and the region with the highest teen pregnancy rates. Also the most obese people!

I'm shocked that DH brother and wife allow her to wear a swimsuit like that, but I kept my mouth shut. My daughters are a bit younger, but is this the kind of swimsuit that most high school girls wear now?

well, that is sad. You should just wear it because you like it.

Yeah, no woman EVER puts on a sexy dress for date night or to go out clubbing. Never, ever would we do such a thing....

to pretend that most girls are dressing for boys is pathetic. Yes, some girls do but some girls have painfully low self esteem and have been told snagging a guy is their ticket to a nice life. Most girls are not like that.

To assume most people go "clubbing" is equally as pathetic.

Dressing sexy for your husband is not the same as dressing for strangers to gawk at you.

Also, I think if you were more self confident you would understand these concepts.

How old were you, if I may ask, when you snapped up your lucky husband? 18?
If anything, you are pathetic yourself. Young women do wear sexy dresses, they do go clubbing and it's a special thrill to look and feel hot. Not that you'll know anything about it, though.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you.. Hamoa Bottom. That's what OP was talking about.
Don't know how to post the actual pic so you'd have to click on the link. Yeah, this one is pretty out there, more so than a regular bikini bottom.
