My biggest issue with these suits is that they make me physically uncomfortable; I find anything between my cheeks to be just unbearable, so I can’t see people in these swimsuits without squirming.

But that’s my issue. Otherwise, I have no objection to seeing buttcheeks and think people should wear what they want.

Great answer. I never put my rationale in words before but that is how I think about it too. It’s not about the fashion choice itself but the effect it would have. And I would also want to explore where my daughter’s choice is coming from and talk to her about that aspect if it.

Like it or not, people are going to do it. Why put your daughter in a position to have men and boys (and maybe other women) leer at her a**? Leave a little to the imagination. Modesty is a good thing. You don’t have to go letting your daughter run around showing off everything she has in the name of being a cool mom or best friend mom. This type of bathing suit wouldn’t be allowed in my house. Be a parent.

But what's the point of wearing a bikini that shows off your entire rear end? I wish I could embed a picture of thhe type of bikini bottoms I'm referring to, but I'm technologically challenged and don't know how to do it. Another poster said the Olympic dive team wears these suits. I looked at a picture of them and no, their suits are nothing like the ones I'm referring to. What I'm referring to is a bit thicker than a piece of string up the butt. I really can't see how anyone can think it's appropriate for a 16 year old.

Fortunately for me, my 17 yo DD is quite modest. She wants to hide all of her sexuality. I am ok with it.

If her opinion was different, I do not know what I could do. I mean, today, we could have world war III, but next year she will be on her own. If she wants to wear that at college, across the drill field in winter, I cannot stop her. Her ass might freeze and fall off, but....
