Would you allow your 16 year old daughter to wear one of those almost thong swimsuits?

Who cares if they wore those suits? Are they nice human beings that contribute to society in a productive way? I'm assuming they are great girls.

Stop slut shaming other women.

Like it or not, people are going to do it. Why put your daughter in a position to have men and boys (and maybe other women) leer at her a**? Leave a little to the imagination. Modesty is a good thing. You don’t have to go letting your daughter run around showing off everything she has in the name of being a cool mom or best friend mom. This type of bathing suit wouldn’t be allowed in my house. Be a parent.

My mom said the same thing about bikinis.

I do not think most women’s bathing suits leave much to the imagination. Why can’t we wear the equivalent of loose Board shorts? And no, the answer is not a burkini or those horrible long sleeve things that keep the sun off.

And tbh, your mom was right.

If her opinion was different, I do not know what I could do. I mean, today, we could have world war III, but next year she will be on her own. If she wants to wear that at college, across the drill field in winter, I cannot stop her. Her ass might freeze and fall off, but....

So she does not wear a bikini?

She does not wear a small bikini. Maybe a tankini.

Just because your daughter might choose to wear a thong in college doesn't seem like a good reason to let her wear one at 16. Your daughter might also choose to drink and smoke weed in college as well. Is that reason to let her start doing it at 16? Some activities just aren't age appropriate, and I would say choosing to flaunt your ass at 16 is one of them.

Once again I find myself glad that I have boys. I honestly don't know what I would or would not allow with a teenage daughter because I don't, and never will have one. However, my first reaction to this question is - no, I would not allow my teenage daughter to wear an almost thong bathing suit anymore than I would allow her to wear low cut tops with major cleavage (I'm top heavy and assume my daughter would be as well).

I also realize that teenage girl fashion is not always within parental control. Teen girls are old enough to work and buy their own swimsuits.

You can still see her cleavage and asscheeks! That is NOT modest.

What bathing suit does not show cleavage.

I am glad I have boys too so I can teach them that bathing suits are not an invitation to gawking. Nor are volleyball shorts, or cheerleading uniforms, or lax skirts, or yoga pants, or ....

Every bathing suit has ass showing.

You let your college student drink and smoke pot?

eh, some tops are more revealing than others are. And, no, I don't "teach" my sons to gawk at young women nor do they disrespect women so you can get off that high horse hon. I was a pretty, voluptuous, curvy teen who got lots of male attention and I, personally, would not have felt comfortable letting it all hang out. So I doubt that I would feel comfortable seeing my own daughter hanging out of her swimsuit.

So you let men gawk at you instead of standing up for yourself and now your daughter must be responsible for being gawked at or cover up. Got it.

It depends on the overall style and the body type, so I can’t judge.

This thread is ridiculous.

Please worry about other important things. Stop shaming women.

Who cares what someone else wears?

Women will be the downfall of women.....

Sweetie. Pretty girls learn early on that people LOOK at them. That includes males and females. There are good things that come with being noticed and there are bad things that come with it.

You can not wear a very revealing outfit or swimsuit and then walk around punching people's lights out for daring to look your way unless that is all you want to do all day. I would wear a bikini to the beach, I would not wear a thong or extremely skimpy top. I get to dress me. You do you.

Because women wearing this type of clothing encourages objectifying ALL women. Men prefer for women to wear less clothing so some women wearing less clothing makes the standard that ALL women should go to the pool or beach this way.

Young girls wearing this type of clothing sexualizes young girls and signals to men “look at me in a sexual way because I am showing off my ass and boobs.” This in turn encourages men to sexualize all young girls, which is wrong.
