Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
+1 Is really nobody going into school buildings today? That's completely bonkers. |
| Really irritating that child care programs couldn’t open today, even if school had to be closed. |
| It seems like everyone has been arguing that a suburban school system can't be open because of the school buses, but today, Wednesday January 8 2025, all local governments are open yet MCPS didn't even open their offices. Something reeks here. |

County trash pickup - running on delayed schedule
County ride on buses - running normally Circuit Court - open after morning delay Costco - hopping since yesterday MCPS offices - closed 🤔 |
It was the right call. It wasn’t safe this morning based on all the sirens I heard wailing. It wasn’t convenient for us either but better than skidding across the black ice. |
Hmm, maybe it's because kids aren't adults and their parents would sue the school system if they were in a bus wreck. |
none of the entities bolded are responsible for the safety of children. |
So because central office staff (ADULTS) are allegedly "responsible for the safety of children", that's why they couldn't work yesterday or today? |
don’t be obtuse. |
| Maybe we should also tell police, fire and rescue, and the Sheriff's Office to shut down as they are "responsible for the safety of children" so them leaving the house automatically leads to children's hearts being frozen. |
That addresses why schools were closed. It doesn't address why MCPS offices were, since those are filled with adults, not children. |
Did you not see I was comparing those organizations to MCPS offices? |
Are sidewalks and parking at Central Office cleared? Most parents would want snow cleared from school grounds first, so schools can open ASAP. I hope Central Office isn’t prioritized. |
Yes which was dumb |
| I just drove passed mine. Parking lot, sidewalks and playground clear and dry. Kids are sledding and enjoying the snow. I know it is a sample of 1. Rockville. |
