DP. I have not shared any spoilers but from what I have read about the book, there is a fair amount of differences between it and the tv series.

I’m confused about the dragon and fire rules. The dark haired children aren’t liked by the dragons because they’re only Targaryen on one side? Dani used to be able to put her hands in flames, why can’t R do that?

Honestly, I am ready for the Laenor death and Rhaenyra/Daemon love story storyline here.

I mean, what were Laena’s options? Death by fire (I believe she alluded to a dragon rider’s death earlier in the episode), or being butchered alive like Queen Aemma? Pretty sure I would take the dragon death there, too.

I thought members of Houses T & V would be (dragon)fireproof a la Mother of Dragons in GOT.

No GRRM has said many times it’s just Dany who was fireproof. Part of her magical mystique.

No the Targs are allll about incest. They do it to keep the dragon riding ability strong and located only within their own house (See: the problem here with some of the Velaryons having their own dragons). Vicerys was married to his first cousin (Aemma, the woman who died via c-section). R&D eventually get together and have kids. Alicent marries her son Aegon to her daughter Helaena. Aegon’s daughter marries Rhaenyra’s son after the war and that’s how the Targaryen line continues down to Dany.

They truly don’t care about incest, lol.

Aegon’s daughter marries Rhaenyra’s son after the war but that’s not the line Dany came from.

Don't the dark haired bastards also have dragons? It is Alicent and Viserys younger son that hasn't been chosen by a dragon. Hightowers are not Valyrian either, so Alicent's children are also half NOT Valyrian, so they are just as likely to have been not chosen by dragons.
