Ian Cameron (Susan rice’s husband) is a journalist and Ben Bradlee Jr (of the WaPo dynasty)/Martha Raddatz’s kids went to Maret which is why the WaPo articles have been so stilted.... |
Okay, was wondering why this has basically been a non issue for the WaPo. The two articles that were published have been poorly written and, yes, one sided. Seems like lots of well connected folks at Maret. |
Maret should do a new capital campaign: “the fund to get a field of their own so they can stop hogging public parks.” |
I’m just a regular old DC taxpayer with no connection to either school, live in a different part of the city, and I’m horrified. Feels like when the last chancellor skipped the lottery but lectured parents about improving their inbound schools. Rules are for the little people, the city elite do business differently. |
+ a million |
+2. Our neighbor’s kid who used to babysit for us attended Maret; I previously had a neutral to slightly positive view of the school. But they look pretty entitled here. |
If you follow public education in DC for any length of time you'll see a recurring pattern: kids come last. When it's time to make decisions, the interests of everyone else go first. |
Same here. My kids are in DCPS but not Hardy. As the parent of a kid whose rec team struggles to find field space to practice on, I’m frustrated. As a taxpayer, I’m outraged. And as a sentient human, I’m horrified by the Maret community, who’ve shown themselves to be truly shameless. |
+1000. Unfortunately kids come last followed by teachers as second last. |
I had no issue with Maret until I watched a good bit of the hearing. I was disgusted by the parade of Maret supporters. Incredibly entitled and full of fake outrage about being labelled as villains. My opinion of the Maret community really went down |
Lol.. this is getting tired folks. Time for a new script. "I'm just a regular old dc taxpayer, and I chose to read 1000 posts about something completely unconnected to me and came up with this unbiased opinion." |
Are you new to DC or do you just not get out much? The French are plenty persecuted in social gatherings across the city. Furthermore, whether the French are protected or persecuted is irrelevant. Would mascots named “Honkies” or “Crackers” be tolerable anywhere in America? So why would a racial slur against an entire country? And, yes, it is offensive. If you have any French friends, refer to them to their face with the name of your mascot - “this is my friend, Pierre, the frog” - and don’t be surprised when you get punched in the face. |
I spent 8 hours watching a hearing that I had no opinion on. Now I have an opinion. Let me share it. |
FRANCE is a COUNTRY., not a race.. are you new to the world? |
French is an ethnicity. |
