It is shrewd, but it also ensures that Maret has turned itself into a four-letter word for a good chunk of NW DC. Parents of Hardy students who were shafted out of playing fields will never forgive them and neither now will residents of Cleveland Park for ruining a nice bit of greenspace. Can't they just suck it up and move to the suburbs? |
I think you mean Chevy Chase, not Cleveland Park. There are ZERO neighbors impacted as the green space is not usable or accessible to the public currently. |
Yes. |
I'm excited by the possiblity of good playing fields nearby! --CCDC DCPS parent |
I don't think the neighbors have a right to STOP it but saying they are affected is probably off base- I would assume that there will be increased traffic and noise with having several fields nearby. Again, I don't think this is a reason to stop the use of the space by Maret (I think people who buy a house in a city and expect all land uses nearby to remain exactly the same the entire time they own it are extremely offbasa). |
Not a Maret parent or anything, but from reading the ANC MOU with Maret, the neighborhood is going to benefit from this agreement because the ECC fields will now be open for community and youth-sports use under the new deal. Previously, they were completely closed to the community. https://anc3g.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/BZA-Application-No.-20643-MOU-Applicant-and-ANC-Final_executed_March-15-2022.pdf |
There is not much traffic in that part of the neighborhood and a ton of parking. It will be a non event, really. |
