Huge tryouts for Pride. They will give Stars a run for the money for best girls' club in Nova. DD tried out for both and has played for both.

My daughter is going to college and are familiar with both. Pride has come a long way, but your statement is a joke. Things could change, but right now Stars still has a monopoly on MS talent in this area.

Huge tryouts this weekend for DC Express and BLC. Seemed like every grade level I saw or heard about had 70-100 boys in attendance.

NP. Things are changing. I've been around for a long time in both girls and boys club lacrosse and the talent at the Pride tryouts was outstanding, including plenty of girls wearing Stars pinnies.

If your daughter is a serious lacrosse player and wants to continue this as her sport, Stars is the way to go.

If she wants to play and have the experience, Pride, Va Metro or Cardinal will all do just fine.

No. Any solid club experience at the younger grades is fine;there will be time by HS to try to pursue the most elite teams.

Not true. Its too late by high school.

First, why is anyone wearing a pinnie other than a try out pinnie at a try out? Thats very poor form. All tryouts are suppossed to be blind (no scvhool or team pinnies or spirit wear in evidence).

Second, the 100% honest truth is that the only Stars girls who go to Pride tryouts are the "B" team girls. Every year, girls who dis not play on the Stars "A" team the previous year, but were the best on the "B" team, move over to Pride's "A" team. Pride does not compete with Stars on the top level. Pride (Red - their top team) is never in the top tier in tournaments because they just are not as good as top teams in the country. Stars (Blue - top team) is, every time. Pride is an awesome club. Great coaches, great program, great girls and Elle Golub is fantasic. But the plain simple truth is that the top Pride teams cannot compete with the top Stars teams. That said, the top Pride team is better than the Stars "B" team

The program that is really building steam at the middle school level is MC Elite. Their 2022 team is excellent but they only have one. They had as many players trying out as Pride on Sunday but many fewer slots open. Girls who would have in the past aimed for Stars and live in MD, now are aiming for MC Elite. Unfortunately they are unlikely to make it if they havent played on a top tier team previously. The 2022 MC Elite team is pretty well set. The issue with MC Elite is their highschool teams are not top tier and their recruiting record is just not very good. They have had a few exceptional players recruited to great programs like UVA and Notre Dame but generally it isnt sucessful at great colleges.

The girls Middle School club teams in the area are all getting much more competitive and the tryouts show this clearly but the hierarchy for now remains the same.

You are an idiot with a myopic perspective.

1. Top to bottom, Stars is a stronger club. Everyone agrees with that.

2. Some years, Pride has had teams just as good as Stars. Their 2018 team, for example, was just as good and most of those girls now play for Capital, moreso than came from Stars

3. Pride plays in lesser tournaments and Stars plays in stronger ones. But Stars is not a top club compared to others from Maryland and Long Island. Stars is IN those tournaments, but they cannot consistently hang with clubs like M&D, Yellow Jackets, etc.

How is has the turnout been at the tryouts for Madlax, VLC, Express, NL and 3D? Saw huge numbers at Express.

And your comment about "blind pinnies" is stupid. Some clubs go that route, but it is all for show. The evaluators all know who are returning players, so it doesn't matter what they are wearing. A lot of them go with the "wear a white t-shirt and we'll put a number on the back" just to save money from having to buy pinnies. The boys clubs don't do this and they do just fine.

The old confused parent trick, a Pride marketing classic move. Hey what should I do? Well have you heard about the great things at Pride. Wake up people it's all the same person.

If Pride is doing such great things, move all of your red teams up to the A level and play M&D black, Hero's green, Skywalkers Blue and Stars Blue. That's all the marketing you need, compete and you have something to talk about. Until then, you play at the B level and have no options after 8th grade.

Can someone give a rundown on 2023 girls teams in terms of team strength, coach quality and overall club reputation?

My daughters Pride team plays all A level at tournaments and has for as long as I can remember.

My daughter played for Pride. There are some tournaments that they played that are top tier ones, and others that are not. As a former Pride parent, I can say that anyone who puts Pride on the same tier as Stars is delusional. That said, Pride has improved rapidly, started at ground zero, and is producing very good players. They are going to get there eventually.

The bigger issue is that except for a particular team here or there, DMV girls club teams cannot hang with the best clubs in the country. Not even close.

what are those other clubs doing that make them so good?

This is completely false. When the 2018s were in middle school, the Stars Blue team beat the Pride Red team every single time, by alot. When they entered high school and tried out for Capital, alot of Pride girls made it, but both Capital teams were still mainly Stars girls.

That may well be tvrue but its the tournaments they are playing. My DD palys for Stars blue (the A team). She has many friends who play for Pride red (their A team). They have never played in the same tier at any tournament. Pride red is always a step below IF they even play at the same touraments. Part of the problem is that Pride rarely plays at the top tournaments. They may play in the top tier of tounrmanets but not a the top tier tournaments. Pride is a great organization but it just donesnt care about being one of the very top teams that pushes its players to play at the most competitive level. That isnt the mission of Pride and the make no secert of that.
