^^I know you think this is funny, but it’s not. You sound creepy. Let it go.

Yo, it is still a pandemic and we are all running out of crap to stream.

Ironically, calling the OP rude. Is this why OP never came back? This was just the first of the Pot calling the Kettle Black responses.

I'm sad that OP did not come back and share.

I went and turned the thermostat down 3 degrees and this morning they were angry that I touched their thermostat and turned it down 2 degrees —from 71-68. They said no one who is a guest at someone’s home would turn down the temperature without asking. Nobody. I explained that I did not know it was a problem. Really. If I had known it was a problem I would not have done it. Honestly did not think this would be a problem and tried to tell them this. They told me to take a poll of my friends or anyone to see what they say. I’m posting here to get feedback also. I’m honestly confused and they can’t understand me and I don’t understand them. Feedback please. TIA

You are staying at someone's house? That's your first mistake. Second mistake is turning their thermostat down. If hot, you take off the covers or a piece of clothing. You do not touch their thermoset ever without permission!

NOT FUNNY. IT IS WEIRD! This was a house? Why was OP sleeping in the same room as her friend and spouse?

That is obviously a greater level of intimacy than just being someone’s houseguest!

It is clearly relevant to the question. Page 11 of this thread and no answer!?

I honestly has no idea that I was being rude. I’m menopausal. Hot flashes. We were sleeping in the same room and they were asleep.I don’t think this would have bothered me. But I hear everyone’s feedback.

Anonymous wrote:Yes, you absolutely did something wrong and it’s kind of surprising that you have to survey a group of people to understand that. While if I were your friend I wouldn’t publicly confront or chastise you I would absolutely be taken aback and probably not invite you to stay again.

This. Your inability to understand how inappropriate your behavior was is shocking. If you are this unaware regularly, this might have been the last straw. I wouldn’t have scolded you but I would have asked you not to do it again and you would not be asked back.

I think OP is using the gender neutral singular "they" and the friend is a romantic partner. That's the only reasonable explanation I can come up with.

You’re obsessed. That is creepy.

Maybe they have a polyamorous relationship. What’s it to you? Need pearls to clutch?

Agree. And if that's true - it somewhat changes my response to the original question. If it was friends who you didn't see much and were staying with - yeah its weird to touch the thermostat. If its a boyfriend where you stay a lot - not as weird.

Yes, I read it as a plural "they" to signify OP was staying at a couple's house, but the context makes a lot more sense if it's "they" singular.

Come on, people. It’s a TROLL.

She slept in someone’s house with more then one person in the same room. Not believable.

My father keeps his house at something like 80 degrees. He is 93. I do turn down the temperature when I am visiting with him in the living room. When I am in my room (a bedroom) I just open a window.

I often ask before I go to bed about the heat when I am staying with friends. I hate to sweat from being too hot.

LMAO. Your friends are like Sheldon.

It was the middle of the night and you were hot. You changed it by only 3 degrees. I think your friends are odd.

If OP was having a sexual relationship with the friend who owned the house, then turning a thermostat up or down is not so rude.
