Feedback on Cavaliers Travel Lacrosse

Cavalier is now 1-4 as a club in the HOCO league. That's not including their 2026 team which isn't in HOCO and apparently has been folded.

You really need to get over this. Are you taking the time to check all the HOCO schedules for all the Cav teams and you are not a Cav parent? You have issues. I guess when Evergreen is not playing in HOCO you have extra time on your hands.

On the other hand, knowing the 2024 coach, he probably yelled at his sons the whole time during the 90 minute drive home, so the boys paid for their privilege.

Did this team get new coaches?

No, 2024 is daddyball right now, and has been that way for several years.

Not an Evergreen parent. But if I were, it wouldn't matter. Both Cavalier and Evergreen are dirt.

If Evergreen doesn't play in HoCo, who do they play?

Daddyball or not, the team is pretty bad. They should just play Evergreen 8x a spring.

There are many lacrosse clubs in N.VA and I would rank Cav in the top three. They are playing in the same division as VLC at '23 and '24 and are above Top Cailber, Battlelax, EKLC, VEL ect... and yes Evergreen. The Madlax teams are half MD players. I am not sure what team you kid plays for but you seem obsessed with CAV I guess your kid was cut.

Do Cavs ever cut people from the team? I never knew it to happen when my kid played for them. Kids left to go to other teams, like my kid did, but otherwise once you were in, you were good for as long as you wanted to stay.

Madlax, BW and VLC are far above everyone else in NOVA. Madlax used to be 50% MD, but they have very few MD players now.

Aren't ML and BW slipping quite a bit over the last few years as the older kids have graduated and more parents have chosen not to enroll due to those clubs owner's reputations? I don't know about BW but ML hasn't come close to being near the top at the Capital level and the DMV should be asking to play in the lowest levels of tournaments and leagues.

Madlax '23 and '24 are two of the best teams in the age group nationally no question about it. The '23 team is almost all the old Club Blue team and GP kids. There are a small number of N.VA players on this team. They practice at GP an not an option for western N.VA families.

LOL this thread is 12 pages long ... surely the original poster got there answer?

If your kid strongly desires to play at the D1 level - VLC, Madlax, Blackwolf, Next Level will get the proper exposure and coaching.

If your kid wants to compete against some other competition outside of Rec and has no strong desire to play at the D1 level - Cavs, Evergreen

This isn't an attack. This is reality. Will Cavs/Evergreen produce D1 talent? Sometimes, yes. But not at the placement rate of the top clubs.

ML has lost pretty much all the MD kids they used to get and now they are in a dogfight with VLC to get VA kids. The quality of BW teams has fallen a ton. You are probably right that the bad reputation of ML and BW owners is a big reason why.

NL, DCE and VLC appear to be on the rise.

ML 2023 75-80% MD players team practices in Rockville. How are they a VA team?
