Aren't ML and BW slipping quite a bit over the last few years as the older kids have graduated and more parents have chosen not to enroll due to those clubs owner's reputations? I don't know about BW but ML hasn't come close to being near the top at the Capital level and the DMV should be asking to play in the lowest levels of tournaments and leagues.

ML has lost pretty much all the MD kids they used to get and now they are in a dogfight with VLC to get VA kids. The quality of BW teams has fallen a ton. You are probably right that the bad reputation of ML and BW owners is a big reason why.

NL, DCE and VLC appear to be on the rise.

ML 2023 75-80% MD players team practices in Rockville. How are they a VA team?

Also, generally speaking with respect to past history, Madlax usually did not get the Maryland kids until 8th or 9th grade. They grew up playing for Bethesda and Club Blue and then moved to Madlax when their existing programs ended. If there is a perceived lack of Maryland kids on the younger Madlax teams (I have no idea of the makeup of the current teams), that is nothing new.

Untrue. 4-5 years ago, a lot of Montgomery County kids played for Madlax teams younger than 7th. Starting 2-3 years ago, things began to change and now it is hard for Madlax to get those kids. Bethesda didn't offer a club option back then, so kids who wanted to play club DID play mostly for Madlax. Club Blue families never wanted anything to do with Madlax and generally never came over. The DC Dogs thing is a one time phenomenon.

Madlax definitively has fewer MD kids in their program now because of DCE and NL.

Bethesda has had very strong club/travel teams for a lot longer than the last 4-5 years. Bethesda teams were winning NPYLL championships when that league existed, and Bethesda teams won HoCo championships when that league started.

Cavalier's three youth teams are now 3-8 in HOCO. It would be worse, but they folded their 2026 team.

If you are referring to the DC Dogs, that was a Maryland based team that moved under the ML banner when Club Blue folded.

Do the Cavaliers have anything to do with the Crabs or am I thinking of a different club in Virginia?

No, nothing to do with them.

Crabs are a Maryland team. Virginia Lacrosse Club calls themselves "blue crabs".

VLC and Crabs are the same club.

Yes, I know.

Though VLC doesn't have much to do with the Maryland branch of the club as far as I can tell.

Didn't Cavalier post that their 2024 team was #16 in the world?

They are both owned by the same entity, but they are like comparing apples to oranges from a club perspective.

VA lacrosse is soft and slow compared to Baltimore. Just ask any VLC parent who's attended a scrimmage against Crabs.

Funny. My son's VLC team beat the Crabs this spring.

Cav 2023 2 and 2 in the second highest tier with over 40 teams in the league. That is a great result for a NOVA team.
