Feedback on Cavaliers Travel Lacrosse

Because when people are looking to join a team, they would like to know if the team can actually get them to the next level, or if the good players all leave after a year or two. Is that something we can expect if we join Cavs, or should we go straight to VLC/Madlax/etc. and not waste a year or two playing for Dad coaches?

You're not wrong around parent expectations. Cavs aren't looking just to congratulate players who graduated from HS 6 months ago but rather bring a shine to their club. Posey helped out w/ VLC tryouts this summer and his PSU bio says he played for VLC for 4 years (8th-11th grade) and coached by Jacob Bullock, John DiCamillo, Patrick Zanelotti, Adam Langley, and Rob Buller. Tons of accolades in HS... but it's possible Cavs might have mentioned these earlier before he got to PSU?

It specifically asks the question “are there any notable alumni graduates from your program?”

Cavs then goes on to list those players.

Sorry that is a false statement when/if they stopped playing for you back in 2015. Taking credit and falsely using a teenager’s hard work and choices as well as the true people who helped in the actual recruiting process, NOT THE DEVELOPMENT, of said player. They got recruited through the processes of Blackwolf and VLC. If we are going to give credit to everyone, then Inside Lacrosse please give NVYLL, Dulles South, Great Falls, Reston/Herndon Youth organization for for graduating in the recruitment process and producing D1 athletes. It’s a horseshit excuse to try and boost their rep and pocketbooks off the corrective work of others and you know it. Amazing if they loved Cavs so much then why did they leave and never mention them on their recruiting profile?

Cavs recent profile on IL from last week - some verbal flourish about "countless talents" (6 listed...of which 2 appear to be Cavs HS players), etc

Most of the noted alumni - linked recruiting profile mention VLC, Blackwolf (only 1 has a profile that mentions Cavs, 1 other did play for Cavs in HS). However, Cavs does profile does list uncommitted players that currently play for them

Breakdown

Cavalier lacrosse club is a long standing group based out of Ashburn Virginia. Established in 2001 the Cavaliers are nearing 20 years in the club lacrosse world and have produced countless talents who have gone on to do great things at the next level. IL Staff was excited to host the Cavalier 2020/2021, 2022, and 2023 teams this Fall at the Inside Lacrosse Invitational in Howard County, MD. The Cavalier 2022 group was particularly impressive for playing their way to a 4-3 record. After 4 games on Saturday, and going 1-3, the Cavalier 2022 squad regrouped for an undefeated second day. Day two was capped by an intense one goal win over LI Express Moran 2022 that pushed them over the edge to a winning record for the entirety of the event.

Club Philosophy (mission statement):

The goal of our Boys & Girls High School Programs is to prepare our players to compete in college. All players receive instruction from former college lacrosse players and current high school coaches. Our coaching staff is unrivaled, featuring former college standouts who truly understand the college recruiting process. Our coaches have a vast network of contacts throughout major college lacrosse programs.

The goal of our Boys & Girls Youth Programs is to provide players with a highly competitive club/travel team experience to prepare them to be high performing high school lacrosse stars. Our coaching staff has D1 playing experience AND youth coaching experience.

My kid starts on madlax 2024 capitals. I'm not a cavs parents, but you are really unhinged, obsessed with Cavs.

maybe your kid just isn't that athletically gifted and you really are bent around the axle about it? and need your meds adjusted?

Nice try - folks don't appreciate false advertising - their kids have moved on to better teams including Madlax, VLC and Blackwolf. And Cabell is just as unhinged on this as anyone else.

Not sure but I read it as the person questioning the CAV IL profile is a parent of one of the players mentioned. I think any of those three players could have made the team at Madlax, VLC, Blackwolf or any team. They are just annoyed that their son was used to sell people on Cavs

Cavs have tryouts in August. Funny they have 2021 team but almost no one has a club team for HS seniors as college coaches are recruiting the junior class. Gives the kids something to do I guess. Here are the HS tryout schedules

2024 Tuesday 8/18 5-6:30 & Sat 8/22 10-11:30
2023 Monday 8/17 6:30-8 & Wednesday 8/19 6:30-8
2022 Monday 8/17 6:30-8 & Wednesday 8/19 6:30-8

More clubs will continue to field teams into fall senior year that makes sense and more tournaments are creating divisions for this
