Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)

| You are all hung up on the technical term of Sanctuary Scott which is only turning over arrest/detain data to ICE. There are many other aspects that make one a "sanctuary county" and Montgomery County has proudly been doing other things for years to make sure illegals know that Montgomery County is a sanctuary for them. http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Beat/Web-2016/Montgomery-County-Officials-Try-to-Reassure-Immigrants-as-Feds-Begin-Deportation-Enforcement/ |

I teach ESOL in FCPS. A student can enroll in regular high school as long as they are not 18. They can stay until they're 22. If they have no credits from their country, they will be enrolled in 9th grade even if they are 17. They take ESOL classes, but it is a slow process, especially if they have little education from their home country. Not sure how long these students had been in school, but if it was just since September, it is likely he knew very little English. These are not 6 year olds starting in 1st grade. And yes, for some of these kids attendance is an issue and they really don't care about school. So even if they were in school, it doesn't mean they were working hard to do well. |

New poster here: Kevin Lewis of ABC posted the police report to his Twitter. You can read it here. The report is scary!!!

"You would do something about it." How? The county has decided, for better or worse, to allow kids up to 21, or nearly 22 depending on bday and time of year. And they have decided to put them in regular classes, although often in lower grades given lack of English and/or formal education generally. If you call the school and said you don't want a 19 year old man in her class, they would tell you to take a leap and that the man has every right to be there. |
Montgomery county does bot work with ICE to deport Granparents, those who have served in the military and students who are contributing members of society but they do work with ICE and have for years to deport violent criminals. |
I couldn't finish reading this. It made me so sick. Why do we value political correctness over the safety of our own communities? |

I'm all for immigration and I'm very liberal. But accepting older teen males from war torn El Salvador ? And then putting them into the local public schools? That doesn't seem to be working out as of late. One of my favorite people was a 20 something guy from El Salvador but that was 15 years ago - the ones coming here now seem to be getting in trouble too much. Rape, gang violence? Time to reevaluate the special entry from El Salvador.
I predict an application uptick to girls schools for high school... |
Perhaps they should be headed to community colleges instead. |
How many come from El Salvador? How many are involved in violent crimes? That is a broad brush. The statistics are low. |
That is true in many countries. Take India though where that is true. The people that come here from India are typically the upper classes coming here for graduate school and they don't behave that way (or at least for the 40+ Indian immigrants I have met). El Salvador seems to be messing people up for life though from the looks of it. Perhaps young children can come here but teen males? Maybe not. |
Well it is the day after st. Patrick's day, so I am sure there were a few other rapes reported last night in moco. Have you read those reports? Are you so naive to think this is the only rose in moco this week. Why not care about the other rapes? |
You may want to educate yourself. The highest rate of human trafficking is from Asian countries, like India. |
We're talking about a rape IN A SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS. What happened after a drunken night out is not the topic here. As parents, we expect our kids to be safe from rape when spending the day at school. Get it? |
