Political Discussion

I have been to Oktoborfest and never experienced this from Getman men. although there were groups of men from the Middle East and northern African descent that would attend and did grope women. I lived in Europe briefly and saw some of the behavior by many of the men that were new immigrants there. Sorry if people don't want to hear it but it is true and there is a difference about how they view and treat women and other social issues between the West and many of these countries. Big differences that I fear are going to be a bigger problem than anyone ever imagined. I am scared for Europe right now as I feel this is the beginning of the decline of their cultures as we know it. |
1. Come on, PP, you know what "known for" means. Gypsies AREN'T "known for" sexual violence, which means it is not a common noted behavior in crimes reported as being committed by Roma. This is a fact. It doesn't mean that SOME Roma don't commit sex crimes, but that their culture isn't "known for" it. There are crimes committed within the Roma culture, but the frequency of sex-related crimes among them is lower than the frequency of sex-related crimes in other cultures. 2. One of my good friends works for a charity that does outreach in the Roma community near Kosice, Slovakia. I actually know quite a lot about this. 3. I've lived in Europe for a decade, in three different countries. I don't know why you "call BS on European residence", unless it is because I am refuting your points? I'm posting from an Eastern European country right now. There are plenty of gypsies here. There are currently a group of them gathered in front of the grocery store I can see from my window, actually, though I'm sure the police will be along soon to send them on their way. |
Not anymore. What is happening in Germany has no precendence in the US. Here's a code of conduct drawn up in Cologne - an advisory for women after the attacks. Way to go blaming the victim. When a code of conduct is drawn up for American women suggesting how to conduct themselves in a public space, let's see the s*** storm arrive here. Way to go about curtailing women's freedom. http://www.dw.com/en/twitter-storm-as-cologne-mayor-suggests-women-stay-at-arms-length-from-strangers/a-18962430 With this in mind, Reker proposed a "code of conduct" for young women and girls, "so that such things do not happen to them." An updated version of the current code will soon be available online, the mayor said. Among the guidelines was the suggestion to maintain an arm's length distance from strangers, something which was met with a huge backlash of sarcastic criticism on Twitter, mocking Reker and the code of conduct. A account from a young woman in Cologne on reddit. 25yo woman from Cologne and this is the first time I don't feel safe here anymore. This is probably gonna turn into an anecdotal rant, but I'm fucking speechless on how this gets handled. I've been assaulted in broad daylight before and of course most of us have the "common sense" to be wary of certain situations, but now that the threat level has risen far enough for the government to act, all they tell us is that it's basically on us to protect ourselves and else deal with it. Instead of protecting the public, we are now expected to restrain our lifes for a sense of security? This is the message we aim for here and the way we're heading? Bad things happen and the burden gets tossed upon the potential victims? To me, the whole refugee situation aside, it's not even those men that acted like savages that are the main problem, but the response that came out of it. If my safety depends solely on myself while I'm simultaneously not allowed to defend myself and therefore am told to live in fear, I can't think of a clearer way to politically correctly tell me to go and fuck myself. |
+1 Its no surprise that my attack in Barcelona on New Year's Eve was also by a group of foreign men. |

Maybe this is why we shouldn't import single, jobless men in their 20s form these countries.
and I'm outraged some of you think all men would do this. DH has ran down muggers before. Most decent men have it ingrained in their minds and hearts to help others always. |
Why is this? |
| In Western cultures we enforce laws when sexual attacks are proven. Huge difference. |

This has become an emergency and the media is underreporting it. Rapes of women have shot up in Germany. Migrant women&girls in shelters which are dominated by these barbaric male attitudes are treated as "wild game", as described in a letter social work and women's rights groups send to parliament in Hesse. In some cases these women are being forcibly prostituted for as little as 10 euros while shelter guards turn a blind eye.
Women & girls around the Western world are now being told by multiple political leaders to alter our behavior--to not walk without an escort (i.e., a man), to not dress 'provocatively', and to stay "arm's length" away from strangers--as if those behaviors would have protected any of these women from being attacked. In 2015, this is outrageous Sharia-law advice and appalling treatment of half our population by our elected leaders. Women pay taxes, we contribute to our economies, our countries, our world. We have the right to demand our leaders protect us from these criminals. These sexual attacks are not freak incidents. Around the world in many communities, women deserve better protection from sexual violence than we get. |
| The photo of the train station looks terrifying. I would never want to walk through that lion's den. |
99% of American men don't commit sexual acts because they're worried about being prosecuted. And the ones who do rape/grope aren't thinking of being prosecuted either. I don't think the law really prevents first time occurrences (but it does prevent repeat offenders). |
Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it's not happening to others. Again, pick up a newspaper or read the statistics. It's a thing, sadly. I don't think I've ever been to Fasching without being groped. Same goes for Oktoberfest. |
What happened in Colohne is unprecedented. I looked at the Octoberfest stats, its nothing compared to what happened in cologne. Now even foreign policy journal is picking up on this: https://www.commentarymagazine.com/foreign-policy/europe/immigration-unmentionable-refugee-question-cologne/ A New Year’s Day event at a square in front of Cologne’s main train station where people gathered to watch fireworks over the Rhine turned into a nightmare. Firecrackers were tossed into the crowd and as the throng fled, gangs of several hundred young men acting in what police said was a “coordinated” manner, assaulted what may have been as many one hundred people. Many women, who were circled and isolated as the gangs broke into separate groups, were sexually assaulted and/or robbed. This sort of thing is, as the New York Times reported, unprecedented in its size and scale for a comparable crime in a modern European or American city. But one needn’t fall into either category in order to understand that the influx of huge numbers of immigrants from countries where women are viewed more like property than equal members of society into nations with modern liberal cultures brings with it a potential for trouble. But if even the New York Times felt compelled to devote an article to what happened in Cologne even those who have deplored the anti-immigrant tone of many American politicians in recent years should ponder the implications of mass migration from the Middle East. It’s worth reiterating that just as not all young Muslim males are terrorists, neither are they all rapists. But to ignore the popularity of Islamist theology in Muslim societies is madness. So, too, is politically correct blindness about the cultural gap about rape and women’s rights. All immigrant populations, especially those throughout American history, have often been accused of bringing crime and uncivilized behavior with them. But in an era when immigrants are no longer expected to assimilate into host Western societies, it is irresponsible for those advocating bringing in large numbers of Middle Eastern immigrants not to take such events into account |
My daughters, sisters, mothers and friends should not be tood to revert our behavior to a century or centuries back (male escorts, covering our bodies in "modest" clothes, don't go out alone, avoid crowds, etc.) so these archaic barbarians can live by seventh century rules. |
I'm not sure we're reading about the same event. Getting groped is obnoxious, yes. Getting roughly groped and sexually assaulted by many men, while your family and friends are right beside you unable to assist, is quite different. One of the women assaulted was a police officer -- do you think she is ordinarily sexually assaulted by large groups of men? |
