Did you have the same deadline as the parent referral deadline? |
|
I have 2 kids at 2 different schools. Thus I have chance to attend 2 AAP meetings.
Both schools have same deadline for parent referral Dec 15. One school will submit 4 samples and another 2 samples if parents do not submit any work sample from home. Another will submit only 4 samples regardless home samples are submitted or not. So there are some different in the AAP process at each school which depends on the AAPTeacher. |
Wow weird to the bolded. |
| My guess is cogat scores will be uploaded to SIS this Friday. Next week they will announce the pool. |
I hope you're right. I tend to think it will be next Friday (12/10). |
I’m new to this. What exactly do you mean by pool? As in the cut off scores to be considered? What were the numbers last year? |
. NP - the pool is not a “cutoff” per se as there is no minimum score to parent refer. The pool is just a minimum score at which a child will be considered even if NOT parent referred. Children in-pool are considered basically no matter what. Last year I believe the in-pool cutoff score stuck with the common, rarely-deviated-from score of 132. |
|
The pool is also not as big of a deal as people on here seem to think.
The AAP equity report gave us some numbers: 13,818 kids were in FCPS 2nd grade for the 2018-2019 admission cycle. 1409 were in pool. 2582 kids were referred who were not in pool. Among those kids. 2198 2nd graders from this cohort were accepted into AAP The report doesn't give a breakdown of acceptance by pool status. Generally, though, AARTs say that 2/3 of in pool kids get in and 1/2 of referrals get in. If these numbers are assumed to be correct, then about 939 of the 1409 in pool kids got accepted, and about 1291 out of the 2582 referrals got accepted. Lately, in-pool is a 132 on ANY of NNAT, CogAT V, CogAT Q, or CogAT NV. But, tons of kids get accepted into AAP who weren't in-pool and thus had scores below 132 on all 4 of those sections. Don't overthink the CogAT scores or the pool status. They care much more about GBRS. |
| Wonder why stupid OP lied about getting the score. |
Because s/he is a freakn troll with lots of spare time to play to the eagerness of anxious parents. |
Fill the referral form, why are you stupidly waiting for the score and wonder if OP lied...
|
My kids are already in aap. None of this applies to me. I was searching the boards for something for my sister and saw this post and opened it. Are you OP? |
| OP here. I don’t have any reasons nor time to come here and lie to you all. You can choose to believe me or not, that’s your choice. Name-calling will just reflects on your mentality😏 |
I had 2 kids at 2 different schools. Both times it was 4 total samples and parents could submit 2 to be considered for the packet. My guess is your one AART is misinformed or miscommunicated to you. |
DP and 3 years ago our school submitted 4 samples and we submitted 2. All were included based on the copy of the packet that I requested from the AART. |
