What should his attorney do instead? Say "Yes, he's guilty! Put him away for life!"

That would be a rather incompetent defense attorney then.

Then perhaps if this lawyer had some real brains, he'd stop talking with all the media. But he just can't resist the spotlight. Poor guy!

He is my hero. I will recommend him to everyone I know! Great job, sir! If it was not for the media I would have not known who he is. So, that's a very smart move.

You have a really twisted set of values. Did you not watch him squirm in his chair when Tucker Carlson ask him if he would send his daughter to school with the perpetrators?

No. The attorney, last night on Carlson, would not talk specifics about payment. He only said he had been retained by the family and specifically mentioned the father hired him. Would not talk about pay.

I bet it's something shady. What does he have to hide?

I hope the money is not from some program paid by taxpayers money.

I can't mention the name, when I did before my comment was deleted, but if it is the local organization of which I am thinking of, they most certainly do get money from MD state and local government.

OMG, if this is true! But the girls family will have to pay out of their pocket, if they want to sue?

so ignorant. criminal defense is ALWAYS paid for by the state if the defendant can't afford it. That's a bedrock principle of our system, not some kind of shadowy Soros conspiracy. If the girl has a good case and wants to sue, a lawyer will take it on contingency. Or do you think MoCo should pay her lawyer to sue them?

Are you saying that the state is paying for Jezic to defend the accused here?

First, the superintendent seemed to hide from the issue and then, when he did speak up about it, he sort of glossed over the crime and blamed parents for being racist. From what I've read, parents at that school meeting were truly enraged by his performance.

What do you think they could do right now to change course?
Are the parents going to meet again?
Honestly, I think, that ATTITUDE and ATMOSPHERE in the schools must be looked at!
You can install as many cameras as you want, but when I read, that teachers are posting here, that it is not uncommon for the 20 year olds to whistle (cat call etc) at their 14 year old seat neighbors in class, that they are openly dating, and having PE together, and that is all condoned from higher levels, then we have a bigger problem, than the number of cameras in school!!

You don't have to be insulting!
The point here is not that he gets any lawyer, but the best lawyer, a really expensive star lawyer.
For an illegal immigrant, now brutal rapist. And that this prominent lawyer (not any lawyer) is possibly paid for by tax dollars, that is unacceptable.

MCPS officials should be ashamed of themselves. Especially the superintendent who accused parents of racism. At least the governor was honest about it when he said,

“I’m not sure I can give assurances that their children will be safe,” he said.

What he did give assurances about, however, was that he would do three things: Get to bottom of the case, end the sanctuary status of Montgomery County and make the county’s school district more accountable.

“That’s a big part of the problem,” Hogan said of the county’s decision to not cooperate with federal authorities in their hunt for illegal immigrants.

Exactly. He looked like scum to me.

Agree. Shame on CNN. Do they even care about children?

First CNN has reported the story as has the Washington post etc. they are not making it into a cause Celebre as fox is. I don't need breathless comments about what tucker Carlson is saying etc.
Second and more importantly please take partisan comments to the political forum. It is becoming increasingly clear that this thread is being hijacked by people who might not even have kids in MCPS and are using the crime to score points about immigration and about mainstream media

+ 1. I would really like a show of hands to see how many of the posters here even live in Montgomery County. I think most posts are coming from people from out of the area with a political agenda.

where are you getting the "possibly paid for by tax dollars"? either he is (because he's been assigned by the court) or he's being paid for privately. both of which are totally acceptable because in the US a defendant has a right to the counsel of his choice. regardless of the accusations against him. btw, did you know that federal defenders and public defenders are generally considered better lawyers than private criminal defense lawyers? yes, the ones directly paid for by tax dollars. I get you're mad but you just need to drop this line of attack. defendants have a right to counsel, period.

I'd like to see a show of hands of posters who actually have children in that school or going to attend that school. Imagine if there was this degree of attention to say what's going on at LAMB ...

27 years here with 3 kids in MCPSNOW schools currently. I have posted here too. Really wish Montgomery County would make some changes. Think CNN and MCPS both tried to sweep it under the rug. Disgusted.

I've posted several times in this thread asking about safety issues and the METS program and complaining about the MCPS response.

Have kids zoned for Rockville HS.

PP If I am selected for jury duty for this case, it will be my civic duty to throw them in jail for life!

I'll bet the trial will be in Baltimore City or another liberal county, not MoCo.
