Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
Then perhaps if this lawyer had some real brains, he'd stop talking with all the media. But he just can't resist the spotlight. Poor guy! |
He is my hero. I will recommend him to everyone I know! Great job, sir! If it was not for the media I would have not known who he is. So, that's a very smart move. |
| I'm surprised people on this thread aren't talking more about MCPS's lack of response to this horrific crime. First, the superintendent seemed to hide from the issue and then, when he did speak up about it, he sort of glossed over the crime and blamed parents for being racist. From what I've read, parents at that school meeting were truly enraged by his performance. |
| Has any official in MoCo stated they will change/improve security in the schools since this event??? |
People are fed up with Jack Smith. He might be already looking for another job. |
Haven't yet heard anything specific. |
OMG, if this is true! But the girls family will have to pay out of their pocket, if they want to sue? |
Damn that CNN! Only 2 separate articles in the last 2 days! Coverup! http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/23/us/maryland-undocumented-student-rape/ http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/22/us/maryland-school-alleged-rape-plyler-v-doe/ |
so ignorant. criminal defense is ALWAYS paid for by the state if the defendant can't afford it. That's a bedrock principle of our system, not some kind of shadowy Soros conspiracy. If the girl has a good case and wants to sue, a lawyer will take it on contingency. Or do you think MoCo should pay her lawyer to sue them? |
No. MCPS is incompetent. |
Typically in civil cases, the winner can ask for their legal costs to be covered. There is also nothing to prevent people from contributing to the victim's lawyer fees. |
First CNN has reported the story as has the Washington post etc. they are not making it into a cause Celebre as fox is. I don't need breathless comments about what tucker Carlson is saying etc. Second and more importantly please take partisan comments to the political forum. It is becoming increasingly clear that this thread is being hijacked by people who might not even have kids in MCPS and are using the crime to score points about immigration and about mainstream media |
For the 20th time: Change the LAWS! There is no reason that someone who has had little or no school, is illiterate in their own language, and who is 17, turning 18 that school year, should be required to go to school for FOUR years with much younger children. Instead learn a trade, work. You can go to evening classes, if you wish. This is how it is done around the world for LEGAL residents. People illegally in the country, or "undocumented" cannot get anything done at all around the world. Why does our country always want to do everything differently? In this matter, it's truly ridiculous. And in this particular instance, truly tragic. The girl and these guys should have never crossed paths in school. |
Agreed and the ACA replacement will be free for all the poor and sick people. LOL! Seriously, you are truly TSTL. |

WashPost posted a good summary of the situation so far, a few hours ago:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/threats-and-safety-concerns-follow-rockville-high-rape-case/2017/03/24/c4e5b604-1079-11e7-9b0d-d27c98455440_story.html?utm_term=.d08d07909af9 They also correctly point out MCPS really hasn't said much about how they are addressing the security concerns. |
