Private School Lacrosse Thread

Former athletic director has family in Houston. Wondering who new one will be, they have an interim.

I think this thread is useful for people who want to understand the culture and mindset of the private school parents.

I think it's helpful. Please don't delete it.

DELETE THIS THREAD. There are other lacrosse message boards for parents. Or put this thread in the Sports forum like every other sports-related thread.

This just takes up room for threads that are directly related to Private Schools, not sports.

Could someone please explain the independent school conferences? I have a middle school child. How many different conferences, what schools are in each conference, which conference is the most competitive? Or, please direct to where I can find this information

The argument that the thread takes up too much room is...novel. What's your real reason for wanting it deleted?

Also, why do you always use all caps? You think that's somehow going to persuade anyone?

Again, anyone looking at the new Maryland Hawks club lax for their high school son this coming year?

Email this week was the first I've heard of Maryland Hawks. Is most of the Club Blue 2021 team planning to stick together as part of this new Hawks venture?

Help me out....

If my son plays lacrosse for Bullis, GP, Gonzaga, or Landon, why would I pay to play on a travel club as well? Don't all of the top collegiate lacrosse coaches have relationships with the HC's at these schools? I can understand if you are a star on a mediocre team, and you want to play college lacrosse, but it seems like a poor use of money to pay the premium to play on a HS travel team.

Thoughts?

Your instincts are correct. Playing for top high school program is all you need.

Are you a college recruiter? How would you know?

Different poster but I agree. If your son is playing for one of the above teams then that, coupled with attendance at a few of the recruitment camps, will provide your son with sufficient exposure to coaches for D1 and Ivy schools. The answer would have been different 5 years ago so the change has occurred pretty swiftly but the coaches at those schools have sufficient contacts such that your son does not need to put himself through the travel ringer.

What if your son plays for a WCAC team?
Anonymous
I don't know but I would presume that the landscape is changing for the WCAC, too, although it may be that it depends on the team/coach. I can answer definitively for the 4 listed because our son is at one of the schools and we know boys at 2 of the other schools listed. Regardless, there has been a substantive shift within the past 2 years. Make sure your boy is attending those recruiting camps.
