f off- its okay to be upset- -if you want to gloat about thousands of kids losing a super fun summer tradition go do it somewhere else.

Yep. Such a bummer. We structure our summer around it. It's going to be a long, hot, boring summer.

Agree. Sad that a bunch of old boomers can play golf but the kids do not get to swim.

Here’s hoping most pools will be open.

I think they will. It will probably “look” different with requirements in place.

I’m a different pp, and “heartbreaking” is the exact word my dh used when I told him. A lot of kids, especially seniors, are going to be heartbroken.

in a sense, it actually makes opening the pools somewhat easier b/c it can be separated from swim team- which at least at our pool- is the thing that draws crowds. Take away swim team events and we easily achieve social distancing.

But I am one who structures my summer around swim team and I am quite devastated by this.

Not surprised. But sad for the kids. I hope our club figures a way to keep the team going. Maybe just run swim practices, modified for distancing? Fewer kids probably but at least so.e time in water doing laps.

I’d love to hear how I “gloating.” Thinking something isn’t heartbreaking is hardly gloating that it occurred.

I agree it is ok to be upset, and my post didn’t remotely suggest otherwise. Heartbreaking and upset are very different. One seems quite appropriate. The other seems quite over the top under the circumstances.
