it's in the general proximity, and I can certainly see that given how schools and neighborhoods developed, a cohort of Gaullaudet-affiliated parents would have enrolled their kids in Brent starting several years ago OOB, or moved in-bounds on the Hill. In fact there's an entire group called Capitol hill Children of Deaf Parents. But yeah, welcome to DCUM where everyone believes that they are THEEE expert.

They are IB for Brightwood / 16th Street Hts. |
What a joke. He should be fired for this, Snowden, too. Or have to enroll in their IB. Such BS. |
No, it isn't. Maps and distances aren't debatable just because you know how make an eyeroll emoji. |
| Could those of you trying to take this thread off-topic by going on and on about the stupid Brent situation and where it sits in proximity to, give it a rest? The poor mother who made the request and already has her plateful dealing with the deaf child was told no. Happy? Now let's focus on the fat bureaucrats who selfishly took advantage |
Brent has a special program and very few students in it, so that this parents needs weren't accommodated or at the very least attempted to be secured is a disgrace. |
According to https://dcps.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dcps/publication/attachments/GAGA-2015-R0046-AttachmentJ9OSI14-15ProgramsandResourcesGuideforStaff.pdf at least in 2014-15, the ASL program for DCPS was at Payne, which is closer to Gallaudet than Brent or Ross is. It's hard to know the details as to whether the child should have been granted a transfer to Brent or Ross. But that doesn't affect whether it was appropriate for Snowden, Young, Fenty, etc. to get transfers (it wasn't). |
And is it really the "right" of every parent when the response is "How dare you even ask me this," a la the CHML teacher/parent? |
| FYI Bowser is on the Kojo show tomorrow (Friday) at noon to discuss lottery scandal |
It is sickening but very DCPS. It's how unconnected minion teachers and admin get spoken to from those in the halls of Olympus |
You don't have the full story. 20 years ago is when a group of Murch parents did the work to get a grant to fix Murch and then decided not to use that money for Murch, but rather to launch a city-wide study on the need for renovations at every school. So yes, it's been 20 years, not 12. |
| 11 pages on this and nothing on the budget cuts to the schools - you know, an issue that really affects us! |
do you have evidence that there is no community of children with deaf parents at Brent? |
|
So Bowwow is corrupt and her minions are corrupt. She's going to skate on the corruption charge because the guilty minion (who was paid a good quarter of million per year) is now gone.
It won't stop any dumb auto-donkey voter from automatically supporting Bowwow in the next election, because that's how machine politics work. |
If we didn't have so much corruption, we'd have more money for our schools. It's all connected. We are capable of focusing on multiple issues. I've worked through other avenues to fight for more funding. Why don't you start another thread if you are concerned about funding? Why do Courtney Snowden, Roberto Rodriguez, the city administrator, etc. think they can game the system at the expense of disabled children and the working class? I'm sorry, if you make over $200K or work for a President, you are doing okay. You don't need a special connection. Let's focus on those that truly need support in this world. |
