| So interesting. I met one of the named officials one time randomly two years ago. We chatted and she mentioned wanting to pull her kid out of a particular private, and mentioned possibly having him attend my kid's school. I also remember her mentioning Kaya, but I can't recall now exactly what she said. So odd to read about the outcome of that convo here. |
Wow- you should call the post reporter on this. Can't believe she is bragging about using her connections to circumvent the lottery. |
| Who was the White House official? |
| Most disgusting is that she got her friend a placement at a school. That just seems extra shady. |
At least that was just being a friend instead of being intimidated by a deputy mayor or responding to quid pro for a future job. |
Roberto F. Rodriguez. See here for more: https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/author/roberto-j-rodr%C3%ADguez |
Middle initial is J, not F. My mistake in PP |
|
So are these kids removed / not allowed to re-enroll?
(Oh no - it would be too disruptive) |
This behavior is typical of most of the Democratic elite. Play games with the public schools, but send your kids to private or get sweetheart public/charter deals. They are liberal lions on Facebook, but just like Repiblicans when it comes to their own families. |

Looks like Kaya is in full self-pity mode. She retweeted this last night: https://twitter.com/LifeLimits/status/865103129238528000
Oh poor you!! |
These special placements should be treated like a family that moves OOB (under the new rules.) Remain for the rest of this school year. Then either enter the lottery to maintain your seat, move in-boundary by next school year, or enroll in your in-boundary school. |
| Vincent Gray was perhaps the laziest mayor ever wrt education. Fire Rhee for optics and then promote Rhee's deputy and be fully aware that most in DC will just accept it. |
That isn't the rule. The DCPS lottery and enrollment handbook now states that students who move OOB after K can stay with their cohort through the full feeder path. Right to the feeder path is now explicit - not even up to principal discretion. |
It would be typical of any elite to send their kids to best school and use connections or whatever loopholes. |
What a hypocrite. |
