Wow. This article, and the report itself, makes Henderson look horrible. She turned down the request of a deaf student and also a teacher at a school where she granted another transfer request (Snowden) - the email excerpt is damning.

You gotta hand it to Bowser and Henderson- rather than own up to any mistakes, they are doubling down and defending he preferential treatment. That takes some serious chutzpah!

Plus- honestly many of these people who were granted transfers have high enough incomes that they can just buy or rent homes in the neighborhoods where they want to send their kids to school. Fenty can afford to move to the Mann school zone. So what the heck?

Many of these people also could afford private schools, easily.

LOL Bowser is obviously worried about the optics here. Her account just tweeted this: https://twitter.com/MayorBowser/status/865008428116189184

Seriously. Fenty is dating steve jobs widow. The deputy mayor has a 295k job and Kaya says she can't afford to send her kid to school in the right place. After reading this article, I don't understand how she became the chancellor of schools of dc. I wouldn't want hire her even as a substitute teacher.

Whatever - too little too late. Her earlier comments tell the truth about what she thinks of this.

The last paragraph of the article being all self righteous worth the teacher who requested the transfer for her kid so her kid could attend the school she was teaching at. Henderson sounds like a horrible human being.

No idea why she was hired. She was not Michelle Rhee is why she was promoted beyond her capacity.

I blame those receiving the perks way more though and any shame brought on them is welcome.

Kaya is more old DC than new DC, we need to hit the reset button. Bowser is marginal at best and being run over by the establishment

Wonder how Kaya and Fenty got connected in the first place since Kaya was hired by Gray. Maybe it was Bowser's recommendation for her old pal Adrian and that's what's got Bowser so nervous now ...

Kaya was Michelle Rhee's deputy. When Gray won, he decided to promote her into the role of chancellor. They are ALL connected, but Kaya has the weakest connecction to Bowser.

I believe PP was speculating that it could have been Bowser who suggested to Kaya that she give Fenty a special placement, since Kaya didn't have any obligation to Fenty because Kaya was hired by Gray. But obviously Bowser has personal ties to Fenty, so Bowser has good reason to recommend Fenty receive special treatment.

Nothing in the IG report suggest that Bowser and Henderson talked about any of these.

Laurene Powell (Fenty's significant other) is a big ed reform funder (remember the $10M Wash Leadership Academy won?). More than enough reason for Kaya to help him out for her own reasons.
