| Mother of MoCo lax player here. Playing indoor. Have now faced 2 private school teams, Gonzaga and STA. Those boys play like the other team is the enemy. Too rough in my estimation. It's only a game for chrisake.22 |

I agree the indoor lax looks different because of the 'field' size. It definitely is a faster play and being right 'on' it as a viewer can change perspective. We have both boys and girls who play lax. I have a strong preference for girls lax - more like a ballet on the field.
And the Hex from Target worked great to whomever made that suggestion! |
Buy your son a bubble suit and keep him locked in the basement. Then nothing will happen to him. |
I concur. Part of the problem is that the boys don't really understand indoor lax. They istakenly think it's basically hockey. Also, Gonzaga and STA feel like they need to prove something when they play the non-private school teams (ie, private school lax is superior to public school lax). |
Typical response from the smug, private school, parent of a lacross player. |
| Box Lacrosse is a -different- sport ---definitely a lot rougher |
My son is actually in public school. But go ahead and run out onto the field next time and shriek, "Don't touch my SON!" |
Most inane repsonse ever. The boys are completely oblivious to the whole public v private crap that so many of the parents seem obsessed with, well at least the pubic school parents seem obsessed. The boys are out there just to play and have fun. Box lax is just pure fun to them - aggressive yes - but thats how those boys have fun. Its a break from regular lax, quicker, rougher, more crazy and just fun. Its not to prove anything. |
I don't know about that. It's pretty obvious to the boys who play for Gonzaga, etc., that they are leaps and bounds better than the public schools. But I don't think they play any differently against a public vs. a private. If anything, I do know in regular games, the coach plays the the kids who are usually on the bench when they play against a public just to give them an opportunity to play, knowing they will have an easy time winning. |
No 1/2 decent Gonzaga player is laying Fall or Box. It's the wanna be kids trying to make a name for themselves. |
|
That is a false statement PP.
Gonzaga takes the Fall Ball League and Winter Box league a little too seriously. |
I've seen the private schools like Gomzaga and St Albans and Prep play in the off-season. They are just having fun. This rankles some MOCO public school parents because they are so clearly at a different level, and they start squawking about overly aggressive opponents. I'm not saying there aren't some fantastic public school players out there. There are. But there is a vast gulf between the coaching, emphasis placed on the sport, and yes overall talent that MoCo is at least a decade behind in terms of having at least a small handful of schools that could compete with IAC schools. And yeah, don't get me started about Churchill. They have a solid coach and a few great players, but throw them into the IAC and they would be routinely and quickly dispatched. |
| zaga is one of the best teams in the country. They should not be matched against public school teams or club teams like Express. It does no one any good. At least Prep and St Albans can hang, and are getting better because of the matchups. It when ZGa routs the others, it is painful to watch and embarrassing to all. |

DC Express is new to the scene. They've been successful attracting decent talent so far. To thrive, they need to tap into the sleeping Giant of a market, the MoCo publics. Mark my words, there will soon be a day the private schools will cringe at having to play Express and the MoCo publics like Churchill and Whitman and QO.

| Churchill can already run with several of the privates. They are probably on par with St. Albans and pretty much all of the WCAC schools minus Gonzaga and PVI. |
