How many of you cut off your MAGA relatives?

Hands down the most on-target comment I’ve read in ages.

We are living in a timeline that requires our eyes to be wide open and fight for our constitutional rights-democracy. I have cut out MAGA friends and family because they are in a cult. A destructive hate filled cult and no one has time for that in their lives.

+1

People who truly love their families and have had healthy, positive relationships with them do not totally cut off family members over politics. Maybe you grew up in a dysfunctional family but are blaming politicians for your dysfunction. For example, having a yearly visit with grandparents and staying at a motel will not damage children.

Being dysfunctional is a pre-requisite for being MAGA. It’s a cult of personality disordered people.

70 million voters are not personality disordered. Do you always make broad assumptions?

Oh yes they do. Look at you.

Not a chance. I'm a public school educator and voted for Harris. Just sick and tired of ignorant assumptions about large groups of people.

Why do you lump all Trump voters in with MAGA? Some people just stupidly voted for Trump and have regrets. But MAGA is a cult. And yes, they have major personality disorders. Being MAGA is a giant red flag for narcissism, domestic violence, and pedophilia.

I voted for Trump because he was a better option than Harris. I’m not a MAGA. I just (correctly, I might add) understood that he would be a better president, mostly owing to my being an actual, functioning adult during his first term, and being for the most part pleased with his performance. Harris seemed like she would just be a continuation of whoever was making the decisions for Biden, and I think we can all agree it was less than stellar, especially in light of the entire country being lied to about the severity of his decline. I voted for Trump because it was the correct choice, of the choices available to me.

It’s one thing to have voted for him. Ignorance isn’t a sin, I suppose. The sin is looking at what is happening now and still thinking that you made the right choice. I absolutely wouldn’t knowingly let my children be around adults with such gutter thoughts.

Actually it’s hand down the best indicator that one is not a minority, probably straight and more likely than not a man.

Most people who don’t care about politics are those who aren’t oppressed by political policies.

Caring about politics should not mean allowing it to consume your life and relationships.

I agree. But when the politics result in policies that threaten the safety and welfare of a family member (e.g., LGBTQ or immigrant), I could see not wanting to subject them to that.

I feel that way (and so do many others) about liberal attys, judges, and policies that allow criminals to be arrested and released numerous times until they assault, rape, and/or murder an innocent victim.

OmG. How pathetically dumb are you?

It’s telling how your natural response to a post that makes a very legitimate point is make an ad hominem personal attack.

You do not present as an intelligent person.

DP. But it is not a legitimate point. It's more MAGA lies. None of us are obligated to try to reason with MAGA when they post this sh*t. They are allergic to reason and critical thinking. At this point, we just shake our heads and say "idiot". There is no point in doing otherwise. You can't have a reasonable discussion with PPs who insist on posting the same lies over and over and over. They are G-O-N-E.

DP

Lies? Nope.

There is story after story about criminals who get nothing more than a slap on the wrist for heinous crimes and go out to commit even more heinous crimes. It happens far too often.

Meet Sanchez Nicholson.

He was on probation after his 33rd arrest and committed murder.

He killed in Mecklenburg, NC…

The same place Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes released Decarlos Brown after 14 arrests.

Then he killed Iryna Zarutska.

Was Teresa involved again?

Stokes has no law degree, never went to law school, is not a member of the bar.

She has NO right sitting on those cases as a judge.

She works for an organization called "Second Chances Services". That certainly does not qualify her.

She needs to go and NC needs to unscrew itself from this nonsense of using magistrates.

Hate to break it to you but they use magistrates without law degrees all across the country including in red counties. Also, in most of the US, including red states, we have elected or appointed sheriffs, who likewise are for the most part not required to have any education or experience in law enforcement or legal matters. And if we were to follow the Republican mantra of "small federal government, more local government" that problem would only become even worse.

You can find low IQ fruitcakes on all sides of the political spectrum.

I follow a lot of conservative/MAGA conversations on X. I know plenty of people who voted for Trump—some who don’t like him personally and others who strongly support him—and I’ve never once seen them say things like “I’m cutting off my commie relatives” or “I’m done with my liberal friends.” What I do see, especially on here and Reddit, is that kind of rhetoric coming far more often from the anti-MAGA side—directed at their friends, relatives, or really anyone who disagrees with them.

It happens. My MAGA brother has cut us all off.

We didn't cut off completely, but stay pretty far away. Thankfully we are in different states.

Oh pah-fricken-lease. This isn't a "liberal" thing. I lived in a rural conservative county for 45 years and I know for a fact that there were well known troublemakers and redneck serial criminals there who were in and out of jail their whole lives, I've been in the bars when the fights broke out, involving the same cast of characters over and over, I've known about the thefts and robberies and threats and intimidation involving the same cast of characters over and over again, so I'm SORRY BUT YOU NEED A REALITY CHECK - conservative parts of America really DO NOT any better of a track record - you just don't hear about that as much because a.) it's not as salacious to you as the story of a black thug attacking a white girl and b.) local press sucks these days and most of those stories never rise to the national level the way Irina's did.

Any sane, rational person has by now realized that Trump was a bad choice.

LOL. You are definitely MAGA since you voted for a guy who orchestrated a failed insurrection. Further, your ire about Biden rings hollow since Miller is our de facto president. But, hope you enjoy paying more for food, electricity, gas and goods, you functioning adult!
