| Usually casinos are placed in economically depressed areas. Guess they don't have much hope for Tysons. |
| I love a good casino. What’s the issue here? |
| Scuzzy low class |

| I hate him Senator Marsden with every once of my being. He was the speaker at a neighborhood Dem event. The whole purpose of the event was to inform the attendees of upcoming local issues. He mentioned -nothing- about a casino. Talked on and on, nothing about a casino. I had to learn about it - afterwards, from elsewhere. What a cowardly, irresponsible representation. |
Ghazala Hashmi has taken $$ from Comstock and voted in favor of legislation advancing the Tysons casino. |
Thank you. One of our neighbors hosted some sort of fundraiser for her a couple of weeks ago. Now I know who not to vote for. |
not even a real lawyer, a divorce lawyer. |
| It infuriates me that Surovell and Hashmi are advocates of a Tysons casino. I have lived in Tysons for almost 15 years and it has no business being located here. There is a terrible amount of traffic, and during the holidays, you can't even get around. Since the metro, crime has gone up in the area. Do they think crime won't go up with a casino? I am also still upset that the local politicians completely ignored the whole "Over versus Under" concerns with the metro. There is no way they can staff a casino with local people because the cost of living just keeps getting higher and higher in this area. Even with affordable housing, it won't be enough. Most casinos that I have been to were built in more rural areas to try and improve the economy, bring more people into the rural area, and give those residents more opportunities for jobs. While I may sound like a NIMBY, there is no business for a casino being in Tysons. I am open minded to it being located in an area that is more rural, but it makes no sense to me for it being in Tysons. I see it as being detrimental for the area. The only folks it helps is the builders who make money and then will leave and the slimy politicians who got their handouts. Then it will be Northern VA's problem for many years to come. |
| ROVA wants to make more money off of NOVA. It stinks that several NOVA politicians are either supporting the casino initiative or ignoring it. To stop this though, we need to impede the efforts put forth by those in ROVA. |
Sure Ds love casinos. Win-win for them, kickbacks, increased tax revenue and low paying jobs to keep the poors poor and dependent on their handouts. |
| Is Hashmi's opponent, Reid, in favor of the casino? I can't find anything about that on his website. |
NOVA politicians are laboring under the belief that they will be able to negotiate to keep more of the money local. They also probably believe that this revenue will pay for education, metro, infrastructure, housing, etc. A lot of hopes and dreams are attached to that $200 million in revenue. |
I don’t think he has made a statement on that. This casino will be the fatal blow for Fairfax County. Corporate offices will leave the Tyson’s area. |
Spanberger also took money from Comstock. She accepted a 500k donation from the Sports Betting Alliance and a 100k donation from the CEO of Comstock. |
