Tysons Corner Casino -- Foregone Conclusion Now?

IMO that is predatory, like a payday loan center and a pawn shop right next to Section 8. It’s bad for everyone.

Gambling can cause real addictions and ruin lives and families. Just like any other drug. The one in Arubdel Mills frequently attracts parents who are so addicted to gambling they leave their kids in the car in the parking lot FOR HOURS. It’s awful. I cannot understand why anyone would want a casino anywhere.

Yes, it is predatory and as a PP wrote, no matter how nice you make it, it will attract bad elements sooner or later.

See later thread that got closed. Efforts were never stopped, only certain bills. The casino is intended to make money to the state, Fairfax will get money off building it and be saddled with the crime and other issues associated with it.

Where exactly is it supposed to go? Near Tysons mall or Tysons Galleria? Doesn’t seem to be any space anywhere!

I don’t think he has made a statement on that. This casino will be the fatal blow for Fairfax County. Corporate offices will leave the Tyson’s area.

That doesn't make any sense. The casino would have little to no impact on traffic or crime.

Why do you want it so much?

+1. So nasty. It’s the very marker of a crappy area.

Ghazala Hashmi has taken $$ from Comstock and voted in favor of legislation advancing the Tysons casino.

Good to know

Wow. The anti-casino people are…interesting. Definitely giving Moms for Liberty. Ran out of books to ban?

A casino is a mechanism to transfer wealth from a surrounding community to the casino owners. That is literally it's purpose. I am strongly against the casino.

Casinos have been net positives for most areas. What needs to be banned, and I will go to town on this, is sportsbook and phone gambling.

Democrats, do you want to win local elections?

All you have to do, is this. Your slogan should be, "I'm A Democrat And I Am Against The Casino"

Just keep it in Tysons. I already avoid that area like the plague.

I guess Tysons and Danville will finally have something in common…
