It infuriates me that Surovell and Hashmi are advocates of a Tysons casino. I have lived in Tysons for almost 15 years and it has no business being located here. There is a terrible amount of traffic, and during the holidays, you can't even get around. Since the metro, crime has gone up in the area. Do they think crime won't go up with a casino? I am also still upset that the local politicians completely ignored the whole "Over versus Under" concerns with the metro. There is no way they can staff a casino with local people because the cost of living just keeps getting higher and higher in this area. Even with affordable housing, it won't be enough. Most casinos that I have been to were built in more rural areas to try and improve the economy, bring more people into the rural area, and give those residents more opportunities for jobs. While I may sound like a NIMBY, there is no business for a casino being in Tysons. I am open minded to it being located in an area that is more rural, but it makes no sense to me for it being in Tysons. I see it as being detrimental for the area. The only folks it helps is the builders who make money and then will leave and the slimy politicians who got their handouts. Then it will be Northern VA's problem for many years to come.
