I am honestly shocked that this hasn't been cancelled yet. Neither of the candidates involved has much to gain from it: neither is a great public speaker, neither has great policy ideas, and there are relatively few undecided voters who can be convinced either way this year. It might convince a few double-haters (of which I am one) to vote one way or another, but it just seems unlikely to benefit one candidate or the other (which is why I am surprised that one or both has not cancelled it).

Does anyone really think that this has the potential to change anyone's views (short of a candidate saying something monumentally stupid or collapsing on stage or something)?

I really disagree with this.

We all thought the same thing about the Trump=Joe showdown in June and look what happened there.

Hoping (praying) that tonight is the end of Kamala. It very well could be if Trump stays on message. Her only hope is that Trump damages himself.

Male identification with the Democratic party is about 23%. That is incredibly low. Compare it to 33% of women identifying as Republicans.
