The debate

With a Harris administration, it is wise to be concerned about how she’d handle foreign policy, the Southern border, and taxation (esp estates and retirement savings). Her voting record in Congress was quite far left leaning. Questions remain unanswered which I’m hoping the debate will help reveal.

Hmm foreign policy-I know Kamala won’t try to blow up our NATO alliances or share classified materials with Putin or Xi. I don’t have enough money to worry about estate taxes-just like 95 pct of Americans. The southern border crossings are down with Biden below Trump levels now. And she’s not an insurrectionist, morally and financial bankrupt sexual predator. So yeah, I’m cool with my “popular” choice.

Agreed.

I see the Trump team is hoping for a repeat of the Biden Trump matchup in terms of setting expectations in the gutter and then relying on the media spin to make it seem like he’s aced it.

In a parallel world somewhere Trump will show up and not be a menacing fart machine, he’ll make good policy points, land some clever quips and draw a thoughtful distinction between his party and their policies vs Harris and her party.

Wasn’t that a fun imaginary romp? Can you even imagine such a thing happening on stage? That’s what Trump should be capable of, but he’s going to show up and blow Harris’s hair back with noxious KFC toots instead of with bon mots.

She’s cannot commit to that at the debate. President Biden’s call.

Actually it’s Congress’s call.

No Congress or Presidential Administration will be cutting off aid to Israel anytime soon. Sources with interests in and close ties to Israel have been donating hundreds of millions of dollars to political campaigns of RNC and DNC candidates in every recent election cycle. Regardless of who is elected POTUS in November, support for Israel will continue. I, for one, support Israel in their current conflicts. Even if I didn't and the majority of American people didn't as well, it wouldn't matter because campaign dollars mean more to our two major parties than the American people do. Fact

Unfortunately, this is true. Sad, but very true. But I think saying "cutting off all aid to Israel" is also not the right way to go....but what BOTH parties need to say to get my vote is this:

We need to hold Israel/Netanyahu accountable for the oppressive atrocities that they too have imposed upon the civilian Palestinians over the last hundred years. We also need to hold Hamas accountable for the atrocities that they too have imposed upon Israel over the last hundred years. All global leaders need to unite to ensure a peaceful transition to a two-member state where Jerusalem is an international city. Period.

Someone needs to have the cojones to say this!

Another person who has never read any history; before Israel was formed, Jews were there on that land for a long, long time. I won't get into it but I am so tired of people who have no clue! acting like it is so simple.

So I guess we should give the United States back to the Native Americans.

Kamala will perform however she does and the conservative blabosphere will run a million headlines and tweets about how terrible she was before she even takes the stage - as happened here before her interview.
Then the “liberal” media will intensely focus on evenhanded criticism, BoThESIdesing the candidates, and deeply probing Harris’ nuanced and thoughtful answers while sanewashing the nonsequitor and barely coherent bile Trump belches out.
Then I’ll listen to focus groups that just aren’t sure who won and consider

Yep. I am so over it. The media is only interested in clicks and views and money. It has been really eye opening.

Is that some sort of swipe at land-back? I mean, you do know you are living on stolen land here in the US, right?

Everyone is living on “stolen land” if you look back long enough in time. This whole discussion about stolen land is nonsensical.

The shills on CNN and such are going to pretend Harris won, but if the election comes down to the debate, it’s over. Democrats need to get real about this and have a damage control strategy ready. Harris is simply not a good extemporaneous speaker.

If she can't handle Trump, how is she going to handle Xi, Putin, and others?

She certainly handled Netanyahu when he addressed Congress. Harris didn’t attend! She met with him separately and firmly shook his hand without a smile. Once that nonsense was over, she pushed for an immediate ceasefire.

+1 unfortunately, it’s unlikely the moderators will fact check him.

When democrats say they want moderators to fact check Trump, they are admitting they want the moderators to debate Trump, too.

Show me a single presidential debate where the moderators fact checked both opponents the entire debate?

If the mods are supposed to fact check Trump, they should fact check Kamala too. Of course democrats don’t want her fact checked.

Come on there’s no comparison! Every word out of his mouth is a lie. It’s actually comical at this point.

Democrats call things they don’t believe lies.

Democracy call uncomfortable truths
lies.

Democrats call facts and statistics they don’t like lies.

Trump wouldn’t acknowledge a fact if it hit him smack on his nose. Everyone knows that and just winks at all his lies.

He should be. Hope Harris does does a Kavanaugh on him.

Kavanaugh couldn’t fight back because of the nature of that forum. When she “won” the debate with Biden by calling him a racist Biden didn’t fight back either.

She doesn’t do well when people question her, whether it’s Tulsi Gabbard or Lester Holt. Trump makes Tulsi and Holt look like child’s play. It’s going to be a rough night.

Nah. Tulsi's half Trump's age, and Trump can't stop babbling about Hannibal Lechter and sharks. Kamala is going to be fine.

Tulsi is coaching him. He’s going to treat her like Jeb, Marco, Ted, Hillary, Joe and all the other candidates he’s sent packing after debating him.

Again, when has Harris ever shown that she could fend off a debater or interviewer that was interrogating her? Never. She’s good with dishing it out against people on a witness stand or testifying before Congress or a feeble old man like Biden, but when has she parried attacks on her in a debate or an interview? Tulsi mopped the floor with her and Trump’s attacks are going to much, much worse.

Ok. Thanks for setting a low bar for her to clear!! Appreciate it.

That was my point, we are living on stolen land. I don't think the argument that the Jews were living in Israel first is valid since history is full of groups being pushed out.
