The debate

The debate is one of those few instances during a campaign when the audience gets to hear from candidates themselves, unfiltered, and without media commentary. It really says something that Trump's performance was a complete disaster to anyone that actually watched it.

America isn't in decline. The people who are telling you it is are trying to manipulate you. Nostalgia is toxic.

Amen. If America is in such decline why don't all of the MAGA move to another country? Perhaps a dictatorship?

I don’t know if I’m ”MAGA” but I’m not optimistic for this country’s future at all under Democrat rule. I am resigned to staying here, because it’s very difficult to move to another country. It takes a lot of time and money. I would not go somewhere illegally like people do at our border.

No, you wouldn't because moving to some place illegally with no support system and living in the shadows is incredibly difficult and scary. And you would only do this if you were desperate.

if you were desperate.

or if it was easy enough, the way Biden and Harris made it.

Have you ever tried to live in the shadows with no support system in a foreign country where you don't speak the language? Let me tell you, even as a legal immigrant, it's very difficult. I know because this was my family. I can't imagine how much more difficult it would be if we were illegally in the country, living in the shadows, constantly afraid of being deported.

That's not to say that I support open borders. I do not. But, you make it sound like these people coming here illegally is so easy for them. 1. making that loooong trek is incredibly difficult. My father had to do that as a 13 yr old with his parents to escape communists 2. Once they make it here, they don't speak the language and have no idea how the system works. Some end up on the streets, with kids. It must be so scary to not know what's going on, where you will be sleeping next or when you will get your next meal.

I was often hungry as a child when we came here, legally. I can't imagine how hungry and scared those kids must be.

Really not our problem to deal with illegal immigrants. No sympathy, sorry.

You deliberately missed the part where PP described it being hard for legal immigrants -- which suggests that the "illegality" is just a fig leaf for you. Your real problem is with people who come here from elsewhere.

Am a legal immigrant myself. Do not care about illegals anywhere. Illegal means you are not meant to be there. We have laws and borders now, and not discovering conuntries and continents.

And yet your society depends on undocumented immigrants. That's why neither political party will prosecute the people that employ them. They'd rather just demonize and exploit them, especially the GOP.

I'm the ^^PP legal immigrant. Yes, I care. I am the one who has repeatedly stated that when Biden won in 2020, he should get a handle on the border issue. Waiting till 3.5 years was too late, and that the Dems would see the ramifications of this in 2024, and I was right, though that was a no duh statement.

Even if I think the border issue is a huge problem, I can still have sympathy and acknowledge how difficult life is for them here, which means, life in their home country must've been even worse.

If you are an immigrant, you must know how difficult navigating a new country is, even if you speak the language and are educated. Imagine trying to do that without knowing the language, being educated or having any family support here.

The ^PP made it seem like coming to the US illegally is super easy. It isn't for most people. They risk their lives to come here, and while I don't support open borders, I can acknowledge how difficult it is for them.

Maybe I have more sympathy for them after hearing stories from my father about his harrowing experience escaping communists and having lived the life of a child of poor immigrants who don't speak any English, and seeing how difficult it was for them. Having kids myself now opened my eyes even more to how difficult it must've been for my parents. Why did they come here if it was so difficult? For the same reason most ancestors of Americans came here... for better opportunities. Eventually, we were able to achieve that American dream.

BTW, I used to be a R, now Independent. You don't have to be for open borders to have sympathy for those illegal immigrants.

Indeed. Most illegal immigrants are from visa overstays, and most of the overstays are the low level workers like those who work in industries mostly run by Rs, ie, farming hotel, meat packing.. etc.

Heck, I bet some of those visa workers hired by Trump's hotels overstayed their visas and continue to live here.

Some more feedback from swing state voters. They mostly are leaning towards Harris after the debate.

None of them were undecided voters. They were all Democrat/Kamala voters. Nice try.

so apparently, the ABC moderator Linsey Davis is a sorority sister of Kamala, and that wearing pearls is to support kamala, that seems like a big bias.

It was the worst part for me. It made her look rude, childish and unpresidential. Is this how she would react towards world leaders she doesn’t like or respect?

Linsey David is 15 years younger than Harris and went to a different college, so no, they are not “sorority sisters.”

So y'all have moved on from claiming Harris cheated by wearing earphones disguised as pearl earrings to claiming Davis's pearl earrings symbolize bias in favor of Harris. All this means is you know Harris won the debate, and not by just a little bit.

She asked questions.
she gave Trump more time and cut Harris off.
Even if there was the most bias in the world, no one forced Trump to repeat a neo-Nazi meme about immigrants, no one told him to complain about crowd size, no one told him to refer to the Jan6 prisoners as "hostages" and "we" - he is his own worst advisor.
