Sign of acceptance?

Do you not believe my DC received a note from a current student? It was a random student - not someone they met during a visit. I’m just getting hopeful that it is a good sign and checking here to see if they are sent to everyone. I have no reason to lie. Maybe I’m reading too much into it!

I don’t want to burst your bubble PP but my DD has received such letters from a couple of schools (from students other than the shadow host). I think some have student leaders do this as a nice gesture. But a neighbor applying has received the same thing. At other schools where the interviews went even better, we have received no communication other than the minimum to schedule things. At yet another school where we know she is already in, we have also received no communication other than the minimum. Just hang in there and try not to think about it until acceptances come out. I know…easier said than done!

I appreciate the response! It was exactly what I wanted to hear. The Truth! I thought it was such a nice gesture and got a little hopeful.

The committees have not even finished (or even started) meeting.

When do they start meeting?

Probably next week.
I talked to my kid's school (a so-called Big3) a few years ago and they seemed to coordinate files until Feb 1. Then begin the process which starts with individual review. Then they move to committee. They may meet over president's weekend. This is a good guess... there's an extra day off that week (Friday)

It is 1/2 was through February now! Surely at least some decisions have been made by now, right??

Someone posted that athletic recruits should know. Is that true?

I would imagine because they need to weigh decisions.

What did that mean

Maybe and maybe not. Things could change in the final go round.

My impression from talking to the AD after the fact is that some kids are debated until the final days. I was told that my kid was "last one off the table--we deliberated until the very end".
(All worked out--he was admitted the following admissions cycle).

There are kids that they definitely want (athletes, VIP's kids etc) and then many others who are very similar to each other.

Haven't read the comments so don't know if this is mentioned yet, but if you have a kid already at a school with a TADS account and are applying to the same school or another school that uses TADS, you might be able to see your a little contract early before the decisions are emailed or posted to Ravenna.

Has this happened in the past or is it just theoretical? Would it be the case if you are not asking for financial aid?

That's not correct, Tads also does enrollment management and contracts for returning families.

This. I have a friend who has worked in admissions at a few schools in the area. She says the top and bottom are quick decisions. They spend a lot of time on the middle and “filling out the class.”

Only at some schools. Both my kids' school do not use TADS for enrollment management.
