In a parking garage on campus

The students were returning from a field trip to see a play in DC. Two of the students died on the bus, the third at the hospital.

Have they said where they apprehended him?

Henrico County, east of Richmond. Police spotted his vehicle.

We don't know.

I think it sounded like:
Suspect was accused of hazing, but chief mentioned people not coming forward to report, so perhaps no formal charges, but I bet team thought just a lot simpler to boot him off the team (he never played a game).
There was also a more recent report about him having a gun, which brought hom to attention of some kind of Threat Assessment Group.
It's going to get ugly as media digs in and unearths all the facts about this individual.

I have an alternate theory, given that he was only a first year and only played one year, could he have been the one who was hazed? And that no one was ever found responsible leading to this anger?

+1. Freshmen are not hazing anyone, they are the VICTIMS.

WTF is wrong with you? 5 people were shot and 3 ARE DEAD! Stop attempting to make this about what may or may not of happened in 2018 and giving legitimacy to a MUDERER!

No one is adding legitimacy to murder. Obviously none of the victims were even at UVA back then but mental health is also an epidemic, like gun violence, and also needs to be addressed.

+1 my eyes fill with tears looking at their pictures. My children are the same age. They were the pinnacle of athleticism and academics just beginning adulthood with so much opportunity after already achieving so much. So sad. RIP. May God comfort the families and friends.

Read the post responded too, they literally said the person hazed was the victim in caps.

Article title says a lot. Suspect on police radar since September

Wow, a failure to report a concealed weapons violation in February 2021 and it’s November 2022 and they were still adjudicating?

There was no evidence that they could go on. They just can't say "well X person said so"

I’m sure they meant that he was likely a victim of hazing not the hazer. You’re overreacting.

If the Charlottesville police had taken any action people like you would have been screaming racism.

You can go to a college for more than 4 years. 5 or 6 year graduation is not rare at all.
It can be even longer.

So a football player killed three other football players.
Looks like a targetted mass shooting.

UVA is very protective of their four year graduation rate. It would be rare for someone to take longer than foe years.

That's inexcusable.
