| I grew up in Blacksburg and went to UVA and this just all feels too much. |
| The PD just tweeted the vehicle info with a full license. He might not be in it, but they appear to still be looking for it. |
Helpful. |

University President Jim Ryan just confirmed in any e-mail that:
-- Three people are dead -- Two are being treated for injuries -- Suspect is Chris Darnell Jones, a former football player. At least one of the dead is a UVA player, confirmed by his father on Twitter. I'm not saying the name because of all the issues Twitter has had with false blue verification marks. However, the word from people in Charlottesville is this happened on or at the team bus when it came back from the Pitt game. As of 4 a.m., the suspect was still at large. Multiple police agencies looking with helicopters, bloodhounds, etc. |
| I was just looking at the UVA Police Facebook account. Someone mentioned that the suspect is a junior, and that there is also a senior at UVA with the same name. How awful for that senior if information gets mixed up. |
Run first, Hide if you lost chance to run, Fight as a last resort if you are confronted(better than getting shot anyways). This is a general instruction for any type of active mass shooting situations. |
Pitt game was a home game on Saturday afternoon. This happened late Sunday night. |
Hmmm. Maybe it was some other team outing or the information is wrong. At least two of the dead are players, however. |
This is the new messaging for active shooters and what we told our teachers in the school where I used to work. If the shooter approaches you, you need to fight back. Those who don’t fight don’t make it. |
Not just for schools. Work palce, churches, malls, just about any type of mass shooting situation. Of couse 'Run' is the best recommendataion, hide if can't run, fight if you have no other choice. |
Yes, you’re right. This applies to everyone. |
It’s not like if they corner you can reason with them. Fighting can give you a chance to flee. |
| Those in the UVA community, my heart goes out to you. I’m so sorry. Praying for victims, witnesses and UVA families. |
I feel terrible. We were at the game Saturday, drove down specifically for it. The Cavs played horribly and lost big time. I'm ashamed to say I had some unkind words for the players 😔 |
| It was possibly after practice is what I've heard, and that all killed were members of the football team. I agree, i was at the game Saturday and they were booed off the field at half-time, definitely feel bad about that though I was not one who booed. |
