Wow! You sound a wee bit bitter. I do not condone displacing poor or rich kids. I don't approve of over zealous Moms, that don't have anything to do except snoop around cars or children's personel records to "out "fraudulent parents. My kids school office admin. are diligent about resident requirements i.e. utility bills, auto regs., property tax info etc. It is not perfect but directing your energies towards these dastardly parents instead of questioning the non-use of textbooks or using a non- effective First in Math curriculum makes better use of your time. For argument sake, I grew up near Naylor Rd. SE , attended Howard Univ. and Med School, volunteer at Ballou Sr. High and work at United Medical Center on Southern Ave. S.E. Just saying.

Guess what! I am an awesome mom, so I can support my school, volunteer, chaperone AND fill out the cheater form, too. I did fill it out, too, after we were invited to a birthday party in PG county. The residency was upheld because the deadbeat dad has a DC address, even though the child is living in PG with grandparents. So, not a perfect system, but it's what we have.

Who hoo!!! Finally someone who had the balls to stand up and DID IT!! It's about time someone actually did a real service to the kids of the District by at least trying to restore seats stolen from them by cheaters. The system is not perfect, but it will never improve unless it is utilized, tested and made better. Enough of these cheaters being put on the record will be enough to create positive change. The deadbeat dad may have gotten away scott free this time, but once the reality of problem is truly appreciated and understood, that policy will change. Kudos to you PP for your cajones! Hope more follow suit!!

PP here. I was born and raised in DC. Also, an IB resident for the so-called NW upper echelon schools. I don't know your ancestry, but for me, being wrongly investigated to proof to some upset parent that my children belongs to the school they attend is not welcoming. You maybe pure as the driven snow. Good for you. But, there are some parents that are willing to take a chance of getting caught by the Non-resident police, in order their kids get a quality education. In a perfect world, all 4 sections of the city and PG Co. could all have Blue Ribbon performing schools. With no DC CAS cheating, fighting on the playground ( clutch my pearls)! or no OOB kids. If those families that are in viloation get caught, what you have DCPS do to the child? This young person maybe thriving for the first time or a very good friend of your DC. Like what Wash, DC does well, fined the parents and pay a tuition fee( payment plan if needed). Don't kick the child.
I feel strongly about this because , I was one of those kids that had parents that lived in two jurisdictions SE and PG Co. They both agree that I should attend school in DC. I attended Eaton, Deal and Wilson. This is before the whole IB/ OBB thing. I went to college and Med school. Now, I treat kids that have Blue Cross and others that don't know where their next meal is coming from.
Yes, the parents that are circumventing the DCPS residency rules are wrong but you have to understand their predicament. Not everyone is fortunate to walk out their front door and have opportunities afforded to them. Being investigated as you put it, is not something that most people welcome. I drive a SUV with Md tags. My DH owns a company that is in Chevy Chase Md. If I thought you were snooping around my vehicle or getting info my children to find out that I was a resident, then you would have deal with me or MPD. Save your CSI tactics and devote your energy in trying to improve all of DCPS schools such as tutoring or mentoring.

1. This is ridiculous. If the kid is at a school with vacancies, then sure, pay tuiton and stay. But if not, and there is a long list of DC kids who want that spot, then sorry, the child has to be removed. Yes, it really stinks, but it's the parents' fault for cheating, not the school's or the other parents who report the cheating.
2. Apparently, at least medical school needs to institute a remedial writing program. Good grief.

You're too silly for words and really really embarrassing H-U now! Agree with PP. HU Med School needs to add remediation to its program. We feel sorry for your patients. Hopefully, they aren't as dumb as you and move on!... Go Bison!!!

These tactics do no service to the poor kid with a deadbeat dad and a couple of grandparents trying to do what's best for their dependent. Where's the compassion for them. I'm so glad the child could continue her education in DC where she is entitled to attend.

Divorced doesn't equal dead beat dad or mom.

Let's put this name dropping argument to rest. Your qualifications are so laughable, mentioning them can't qualify as "name dropping". Agreed? Sorry, Sticky Fingers- we know you don't claim this goofy PG patron!!!

Which school has a high number of cheaters? Has anyone had any luck going through the process? Is DCPS pursuing these cheaters?

Where's their compassion for all the children they're robbing while stealing seats from legit residents? There's not only high SES families languishing on waitlist. A lot of poor kids of color are there too. All they want is a fair chance to get into a desirable DC school. They have the values and morals not to go across the County line and steal from Marylanders and Virginians. So, they're punished by shameless undignified compassionless cheaters. These cheaters don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. They wouldn't blink an eye while the poor kids of the district get robbed of their opportunity. So glad we've all had enough of this sh!t!! It's time to out these punks and ship 'em right back to where they chose to reside and where they pay their taxes- PG. Home of Punk Goons!

There is no need for name calling. What a difference a decade makes? PG County is what DC used to be. Tax payers have a right to choose their school. But, don't pretend that some of you guys are concerned about the "poor" kids. As soon as the Capital City tour bus stops, in front your school, I can hear the grumbling. No Child Left Behind is the reason why that is happening. What about the "poor" kid with the "poor" parents apply to the OOB lottery for preK and now their "poor" child can attend Deal because of the current feeder system?

WTF does this have to do with anything? Nada. Nice try, trying to shift focus away. You troll cheaters are a naughty/nutty bunch! Plain and simple PGer (or Punk Goon as it was eloquently stated above)- leave our DC schools to our DC children- rich, poor, black, white, special-ed, regular, young, old! Stop stealing for OUR kids. Thank goodness the do-nothing bureaucracy of DCPS is being forced to get involved here. These tired conversations with thieves are enough already!

AA Washingtonian DC tax- payer. The cheaters have been around for over fifty years. They are taking a few seats. But, honestly if they were taking seats from schools East of the River aka poor students , will we see this much enthusiasm to catch a non resident cheater? I chalk it up as another, built in, bureaucratic obstacle we have to deal with. Maybe, as an AA parent dealing with DCPS ,you get used to the bullshit. I have participated in PTA's and LSAT's to make changes in the system. Hopefully, DCPS will stop residency fraud. But to label a whole County as "goons" has racial undertones. There is know secret that Prince Georges County is predominately AA. A lot of native Washingtonians have relatives that live out there. You made not meant it that way. Trust me, if you called any African American a goon, you are making very negative insult. Your displeasure with the cheaters is noted. Choose your words carefully.

How the hell do you you know the dad is a deadbeat? The racism on these boards is not even hidden anymore. Ugh! Disgusting.

Where is assertion that the father is of a certain ethnicity?
