AA Washingtonian DC tax- payer. The cheaters have been around for over fifty years. They are taking a few seats. But, honestly if they were taking seats from schools East of the River aka poor students , will we see this much enthusiasm to catch a non resident cheater? I chalk it up as another, built in, bureaucratic obstacle we have to deal with. Maybe, as an AA parent dealing with DCPS ,you get used to the bullshit. I have participated in PTA's and LSAT's to make changes in the system. Hopefully, DCPS will stop residency fraud. But to label a whole County as "goons" has racial undertones. There is know secret that Prince Georges County is predominately AA. A lot of native Washingtonians have relatives that live out there. You made not meant it that way. Trust me, if you called any African American a goon, you are making very negative insult. Your displeasure with the cheaters is noted. Choose your words carefully.

NP here. let's go back to the main point. a poster found out that a child in DCPS was actually living in MD with his grandparents. the poster reported the child. I think she did the right thing. after she reported it, it is DCPS' place to investigate and make the final determination if the child has the right to be in DCPS or not. DCPS investigated and determined that the child had the right to be in DCPS because the father, who does not live with the child or raise him, is a DC resident. we may agree or not with this decision (I don't). other posters started insulting the poster who reported the child, and I think they are wrong. in this city there are many people who pay $30,000 a year to send their kids to school. they have lots of choices. other people do not have any choice, their only hope is to send their kids to a good DCPS or charter. if they end up on a waitlitst and can't go to a good school because somebody cheated and took the spot even though he/she is not a DC resident, that's not right. some people seem to justify the cheaters byu saying that they do it because they want their best for their kids. then they can move to DC. there were other threads on this, not everybody who lives in NWDC is a rich lawfirm partner. there are people who rent small places to be able to be in a good school district. we rented for years a small 2bd apartment with a family of 4 to send our kids to a good school, and know other families in the same situation. just play by the rules. if you do not like the schools in your area, fight to improve them, or move somewhere else where schools are better.

There is no way the PP can state as fact that the DC father did not have the child in a spilt arrangement. Even if she got other information from a grandmother, that is one party that may not be disclosing all the facts. The PP did do the right thing. She doesn't know the true custody arrangement nor does she know that the father is a deadbeat. That is between the father and DCPS and none of her business. She just knows what one grandmother supposively told her, which even if true is hearsay. Once she reported the situation, it should have ended there.

Has any investigation been done on the football players? Everyone (including the press) know they are MD residents - but no one is stepping up to report them. Now ..... if there is no waitlist, out of state students can pay out of state tuition - but I highly doubt this is the case.

I don't know why everyone thinks it is only PG parents committing the residency fraud. Two years ago, our charter YY booted out a Rockville non-AA family for "alleged" residency fraud. Stop your race baiting by believing it is only AA committing the residency fraud. In a similar manner, but smaller scale, it is like the immigration debate. Most of you probably also think it is only the Hispanics you are undocumented when this country have many white undocumented workers from Canada and the UK living in the state, along with undocumented Asians and Africans living in the states. But, your focus is targeted on one-race while all the others skate. A bit hypocritical but normal for most of you, I am sure.
