Is “Girl Dinner” really a thing for you?

My mom was queen of apps and snacks for dinner (always with addition of crudités and cut fruit). She def instilled a love of simple prep/comfort food. It’s my fave way to eat. Also I don’t work a 9-5 and often miss dinner with family. I have a more traditional dinner as lunch. Works for me

Yum! My favorite girl dinner is cereal. I’m not a breakfast person (makes me nauseous to eat in the morning) so I don’t get to eat cereal often.

Dh is convinced that every meal needs to be hot and there has to be meat. It gets old.

I call it toddler dinner. Usually cheese, hummus, crackers, carrots or other veg.

Absolutely do girl dinner when DH/kids are out and I’m on my own. I don’t do it for weight loss/diet reasons although I know I consume fewer calories than had I made a “proper meal” for the family. Also, no dishes/pots and pans to clean up.

100%. DH is traveling this week and I have appetizer leftovers from Easter so it's girl dinner palooza for me. When I'm by myself I just don't want to mess around with anything too hands-on in the kitchen and it feels like a treat.

Oh yes. Absolutely.

Yes but I’m a man so the gender thing is dumb.

Well I’m a woman who lives alone and isn’t a good cook, so ….? But I don’t like cheese, salami, pickles or olives. I’ve dumped bone broth in a pot , then tossed in ramen and chicken breast. Scrambled eggs and toast. A yogurt, fruit, and piece of toast.

We call it snack dinner around the houseand it's a whole family thing. It's not an every day thing for us for sure (maybe once a month, tops) but cheese, crackers, fruit, veggies and hummus kind of thing. When you've had a busy day and just need to eat.

Before I had kids my go to solo dinner was "what I have in fridge with eggs" scramble.

Yes. When we did this in the 90s it was called charcuterie.

I hate the name of it. Gen Zis generally annoying.

It’s a stupid name for what is snacks for dinner and no, I don’t eat this way.

I did not know you could eat cheese and crackers together. Is this a European thing?

Yeah, but I just jokingly call it "tapas dinner"
