girl dinner is akin to an aesthetically pleasing Lunchable: an artfully arranged pile of snacks that, when consumed in high enough volume, constitutes a meal. Or so the thinking goes.

Typical girl dinners may include some kind of fruit, a block of cheddar, sliced salami, a sleeve of fancy crackers and a dish of olives. Girl dinner is “both chaotic and filling,” as one TikTok commenter put it, requiring none of the forethought, cooking or plating demanded by an actual meal. As another commenter observed: It’s “no preparation just vibes.”

The dinner described sounds tasty, but I loathe every other word used in your post. It’s just food to eat. Not everything has to be a thing.

Wow, this makes me hate that sometimes I enjoy some combo of raw veggies, hummus, cheese, and olives as a meal. I thought I was just eating.

Huh. I just call this “I’m not making dinner tonight”.

Aged cheddar, crackers, pre-sliced soppressata, nuts. Maybe hummus and pita. Another easy one is frozen dumplings with gyoza sauce.

I live alone, so suppose I eat girl dinners every night. Last night I had a quarter of a pound of roast beef, carrot sticks and cucumber slices, popcorn, and cherries.

Gendering food now?

I love that someone assigned a name to this because DH and I have had a running discussion about this. I always ate "girl dinner" when I was single and gained weight when we got together and converted to "normal" dinner.

Girl dinner is just not cooking and eating light. Crackers, cheese, dips, olives, bread.

This is my dream and I would do this every night if I lived alone. I loathe cooking “proper” meals.
