It really isn't. Vote No = MAGA Vote Yes = you are sickened by MAGA Note, this is only until the info from the 2030 census comes in. Normally I hate gerrymandering. But it's clear that that modern day Republicans do not care about fairness or decency. The only chance to save our country is to play by the same rules that they do. We, as a country, can no longer afford to "go high when they go low." |
|
MAGA in the thread doing what they do best, trying to disenfranchise voters and sow doubts about election integrity.
This you? Voters in Dallas and Williamson counties faced challenges due to a change in voting location https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/05/voter-suppression-texas-primaries |
The only people trying to disenfranchise voters are the ones trying to do this gerrymandering. |
DP. I am voting no and I am NOT MAGA. Maybe don’t paint everyone who disagrees with you with same paintbrush. It’s part of how we got here in the first place. |
So then why are you voting No? Do you agree with Republican gerrymandering? What's your realistic solution to challenge Republican gerrymandering? At least VA is putting it up to a vote. That's better than red states do. |
|
So I was the one unsure what I would do.
I looked at the redistricting gerrymander. I would lose Don Beyer who has significant seniority in committees that matter to my family and great constituent service. Thus, I am being asked to fall on my sword and dilute the rural Culpeper and worse Republican vote to try to elect "some freshman Democrat." In general we have little in common with rural Virginia and the needs of that area. I am Independent. I hate Trump. I hate his crazy idea of government. But both parties suck imo. I vote no. |
Please, think of the greater good. If you don't do this, democracy will fall! |
I don’t like it either, but Don Breyer will be able to accomplish nothing in Congress if his political party relegated to a permanent minority in Congress. Between aggressive gerrymandering and the elimination of the VRA congress will be locked in around 235-200 unless states like Virginia take agressive action to provide counter balance to even out the maps. These number will get even worse come 2030 because those states had more population growth as well. |

I vote by mail. I get a text when my ballot is received at the post office, a text when it's received at the county, and a text when it's successfully counted. Nobody is losing anything. |
This. There is no sensible reason to vote 'no,' especially if you like Beyer. |
This sounds like paranoia. PP, you can also vote early in person. |
| I’m voting YES |
You've obviously never worked at a polling place. You should - everyone should - so you can understand how secure our elections are. If you vote in person (early or otherwise) you put your ballot into the scanner yourself and no one sees it: that is a truly secret ballot. FYI, it goes into a locked box at the bottom of the scanner that can only be opened with a special key, following special procedures; when voting closes, those ballots are put in a secure box in case they need to be recounted manually later. That whole process is watched by multiple people representing both parties. If you vote with help - by mail, by car, or with an election worker to read to you at the polling place - then yes, somebody could see parts of your ballot. For example, if you are disabled you can stay in your car while a team (both parties represented) carries your voted ballot to the scanner and deposits it; they're not trying to look at it but they could probably see some of it as it scans in. Same with mail ballots: someone checks the outer envelope for a valid signature and someone else scans the ballot in. |
