Youngkin isn't the governor any more? |

The redrawn and new districts stay. I vote no. If one district is all between us and Armageddon well that's what Amerika voted for.

Local views and candidates and the truth the Dems are trying to hide: the gerrymandered 11th District may NOT be a Dem seat. And Beyer may be displaced.

Vote no.
Set aside your politics, and your views of Trump (believe me, I get them). Ask yourself: Is this fair? Objectively, to get from a purple 6-5 division to a 10-1 blue is insane, and cannot be reflective of the people in the state. And the fact that the commercials about this explicitly tout the fairness! Do they think people are really that stupid? It is brute-force power engineering. I guess i get the tit-for-tat justification, but reject it viscerally: this is not about Texas or California or any other state. This is about Virginia. I also really really hate that Governor Spanberger clearly opposed this....until she didn't. |
Not true. |
|
So…. About the “restore fairness” language, which my the way is extremely inappropriate language for a ballot question.
In the explanation posted on the Virginia department of elections site, the only language that even attempts to explain the reasoning is that “other states have done so”. A vote yes is a vote to continue the race to the bottom. Virginians, you are better than this. |
Ask yourself this: does MAGA play fair? I used to think it was important to be the better person. I still believe that, in my personal life. But the only way to deal with extremism, is to play the rules of the game they made. If they don't play fair, there's no reason why everyone else should. I vote yes. F MAGA. |
if this passes, it is never going to go away bc Virginia will renew it. Once government has a power, they don’t give it up. We have been burned on this kind of thing before. Ask yourself, if MAGA somehow manages to win either in the next election or the one after, do you want MAGA having this power???? |
This government gave up that power only a few years ago when the legislature established the independent commission. |
This is the problem with tit-for-tat decision-making. I really really hate it, and it never makes anything FAIR. Also, if you hate MAGA so much, why in the world do you want to emulate them? Lastly, Dems are going to take the House. They really do not need to engage in gutter battles like this. |
The loudest and clearest criticism of MAGA is that they do not play fair, they do not follow the rules or follow the law. And maybe some of that is because some dem policies (ahem, unfettered immigration) aren’t defensible, so it makes more sense to criticize what MAGA is really and truly doing wrong. But then this redistricting is just doing more wrong. It is absolutely intended to disenfranchise voters. |
Not really. The Virginia Redistricting Commission failed to come to a decision in 2021 and the courts decided. The commission is intentionally structured to fail. |
They won’t necessarily take the house back for more than two years. The number of competitive seats is very small and Republicans are going to pick up another 18 seats in 2028 from the voting rights act being overturned. |

MAGA always plays dirty, and then people like certain PPs in this thread want to claim the high ground and say that they're not going to do the same thing. Well, guess what, Republicans keep getting their way on everything. There can be no clearer example than the people who wanted to claim some sort of high ground about "Hillary's emails," voted for Trump, and as a result, we've had two Trump administrations and a 6-3 Republican Supreme Court which has allowed for the destruction of our democracy. So congratulations on the immense success you've achieved from taking the high ground.
If you want to claim the high ground, that's great -- just know that you're paving the way for America to continue its downward spiral at the hands of Republicans. And Republicans are very grateful to you for it. |
| Not a fan of this, but I’m voting yes. If we’re wrestling in the muck, no use pretending we’re better sitting it out. Hop on in and drown the f*ckers. |
