I'm tired of going high when they go low.

I'm voting yes.

Then you are no better than they are.

I thought one of the bad things about MAGA is they are destroying democracy.
So the solution is, destroy it more?

I’m starting to think maybe more of us need to switch parties and vote in Republican primaries so we can end up with someone we can stand if the Dems lose.

I vote by mail. I get a text when my ballot is received at the post office, a text when it's received at the county, and a text when it's successfully counted. Nobody is losing anything.

Not exactly a secret ballot.

You've obviously never worked at a polling place. You should - everyone should - so you can understand how secure our elections are.

If you vote in person (early or otherwise) you put your ballot into the scanner yourself and no one sees it: that is a truly secret ballot. FYI, it goes into a locked box at the bottom of the scanner that can only be opened with a special key, following special procedures; when voting closes, those ballots are put in a secure box in case they need to be recounted manually later. That whole process is watched by multiple people representing both parties.

If you vote with help - by mail, by car, or with an election worker to read to you at the polling place - then yes, somebody could see parts of your ballot. For example, if you are disabled you can stay in your car while a team (both parties represented) carries your voted ballot to the scanner and deposits it; they're not trying to look at it but they could probably see some of it as it scans in. Same with mail ballots: someone checks the outer envelope for a valid signature and someone else scans the ballot in.

I have visited mine on a regular basis. They are barely able to verify my eligibility to vote. It usually takes two of them to find me on the list of registered voters. When I leave I don't take the "I voted" sticker. I have had them chase me down to give me the sticker. Just really really odd people staff those places.

What bull.

The Democrats have messed up left and right, but the failure of our democracy is wholly on Republicans and MAGA. The Dems deserve a LOT of criticism - but they are still a less batshit insane option.

If Dems were less messed up we would not have Trump 47.

Republicans are the cause of Trump. Period.

In Arlington you can vote in any primary. Just one at a time.

No good choice here. Voting no and we maybe get MAGA. Though VA is dominated by NoVA which is deeply blue.

Voting yes and maybe we stop MAGA. It will make us subject to perpetual gerrymandering, instead of just adjusting after a decennial census. What happens IF a MAGA somehow manages to win Virginia in the future? It will be a loaded gun in the hands of a criminal. It could be another short-term gain for long-term loss.

MAGA has already gerrymandered.

Do we just let them steal power and continue to erode our democracy?

F that.

Vote yes if you want adults in Congress to hold Trump and his circus accountable for their abuses of power.
